I've got a used Delta V 64mm hanging around if u want it. Let me know what you need for it. Eventually it would find a home in the wings makers F35.

It's mildly used. Maybe $40? I don't know - make me an offer pal.

Thanks, I'll let you know, Gabe. I've got a bunch of builds in the works right now and need to prioritize. ;D

The Hobbypartz 64mm fan with 5250kV motor showed up yesterday. Nice looking unit. All I needed to do was to solder on the gold connectors, not included, and it went in just like the stock fan. I also had to cut a notch in the fan housing so that the wires reached the 40A ESC. I could have added wire, but that's 3 more solder joints and more weight. Why they are so skimpy with wire on these motors is a mystery to me. ;D It couldn't cost a half penny to make them an inch longer. The bench test indicated a lot of thrust. Maybe a bit more than the 5k motor. That makes sense. Winds were 40 plus yesterday and it's raining this AM, so maybe later today or tomorrow we'll get her back in the air.

40mph + ? Jeez, I don't feel so bad about the 10-13mph winds I consistently get.

Yep, we get some fierce winds at times.
The maiden with the new 5250kV motor and fan wasn't very impressive. It seems to have less thrust and speed than the stock fan with the upgraded 5k motor. ;D
I might try switching the motors to see what happens.
The stock fans are now backordered into November.

Maybe hook up the watt meter of IcE and check the watts and amps. More KV doesn't = move thrust. It just means less resistance and that the fan will spool up faster and hopefully gain rpms.

You're right about that Gabe. Well, I took it out and flew it again...Same lack luster thrust. I had it in the air about 4 mins and the motor quit. Fortunately I was lined up with the landing area so that part went well. I first thought that the LVC had kicked in because I still had control. Wrong. Checked the battery and it was way above LVC. HMMM...Hooked up another motor. Nada. It was the ESC. 40A Eflite. Crapola! 2 defective Horizon parts in 2 days: 1 AR6100 and 1 ESC. I changed to another non-Eflite 40A ESC. Bingo! While I was at it I took the impeller off the new motor and put it in the stock fan unit with the 5K motor. The thing screamed just like it did with the old impeller. The thing leaps out of my hand now and flies just like before. Happy ending. At least for now.

Day before yesterday the fan blew up. I mean blew up. Pretty spectacular.
The last time I lost an impeller it wasn't that bad, but this time it took out the whole front half of the fuse. When it hit the ground EVERYTHING else broke. Well, two the servos, motor, ESC and Rx survived. The battery is dented. It might be OK. All the foam was toast.
The funny thing is that the impeller core was still anchored to the motor shaft. All of the blades were gone and the housing was stripped clean. There was no vibration ot hint of a crack visable in my prior inspection. I wonder if it didn't inhale something like a large bug? ;D
I'm ordering another airframe since this is nice plane to fly with the right power and fan.

Wow! I've missed a lot in this thread!
I guess I have an exploding fan to look forward to also. I put the 5k motor in now, but I haven't flown it yet. It certainly has a HUGE increase in thrust!
That's too bad you didn't get a video of the explosion! Kent

Wow! Honestly, i had a dented lipo smoke on menthe other day when i started charging it. I'll never take that chance again. Wish you would have got that spectacular explosion on tape!

The first time the impeller came out it was because I didn't have it tight enough. This time I had the impeller from the aftermarket fan in the stock housing. It was on very tight, witnessed by the fact that the impeller core was still on the motor shaft. It was really working great. Plenty of thrust and quite a bit faster. I'm always real careful with lipos that have been in a wreck. Yeah, that would have been some vid of the explosion.
