I spent the day at the field today! It was great! I flew most of my planes and the 500.
The only bad spot was that I tried to use one of my old puffed up Zippies for my Ultimate biplane. Bad idea. It died after about 5 minutes of flying. Dead stick like dead. I tried to get it over the trees and succeeded with that, but it tip stalled just past the trees and smacked hard. I don't know if I can fix it. But that's OK! The day was awesome!
That's also why I love these foamies!!
Anyway, at dusk, all of these guys started to pull foamies out of their cars and trucks. Humm....What's up with this?? Most of the other folks had left. Then I received a warning. We are not about to obey the rules for the rest of the night. WOW! I LOVE IT!!! So, I grabbed my Yak foamie and proceeded to fly with those nuts all over the sky!! They did have rules. If anyone crashes or lands for any reason, you must BUZZ THEM!!!
Dam, that was the most fun I've ever had flying, bar none!!!!!!!!!
Of course, I had a major advantage! My Yak is made from EPP!!!! Everyone else's was fan fold or Depron! So, they would smack in and then have to go glue it back together. Everyone crashed, so everyone had to use glue, except for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I crashed and then just walked over and tossed it in the air again! Even with a broken prop and a few gouges from a mid air, I kept flying!
Man that was incredible fun!
I know where I'll be spending Sunday evenings! I have some LED's ready, too. They were still flying when I left. I couldn't see mine any more and I needed to get home. They had lights on theirs! One fellow used UV leds with a glow in the dark paint. This was AWESOME! Really, it should be illegal it's so much fun!
I am donating all of my blue fan fold foam to the cause and am bringing some EPP next Sunday to see how it cuts with a fellow's CNC machine! He is bringing it to the field!
Noone there has ever used EPP. I think they will be from now on! Kent

So very cool on all accounts. Except for the Bipe. I got one flight in yesterday with the souped up Corsair. First one in 7 days. The rain and winds have been crazy variable for over week. 15-44 mph vectoring 90 degrees in a second. Makes for some very interesting landings. Sounds like you've got some EPP converts. Now there will probably be a shortage of foam. ;D

Yea,,,thats great,,,I'd love to get into that. Sometimes you have to get crazy to keep your sanity. The Battle Royale!!
Tomorrow looks great for flying all day,,I got all my birds ready. One problem,,,it's black-fly season up here. They are like a bloated gnat and can drive you crazy. They last about 2 weeks until the dragonflies comeout and eat all the blackflies.
Lots of bug-dope,,LOL!!

Black flies? I never heard of em until I just looked em up. Sounds downright nasty!
We have just them mosquitos that fly and suck blood. Well, we have some horse flies, but very few. They die off in the heat. So, we really don't have anything that can fly that can hurt you, other than the billion or so bees, but they don't bother you, unless you bother them.
1,800 varieties of black flies? WOW! They say those things diversify when people try to kill em off. Nasty bugs in their guts, too. Can infect you with stuff.
Nope, gimme my fire ants and scorpions any day. Those black flies sound FAR WORSE!! YUK! Oh, and I just read that those things are attracted to DEET!!!!! Holy crap! What protects you from skeeters attracts black flies!!!!! I am transmorgrified. Kent

No-see-ums in Florida - 8 months of the year. They're the size of the tip of a pencil lead and you don't see them until they bite ya. Evenings are a no go for me. I feel your pain.
