Do any of you have any experience with a rubber band launcher for your planks that don't have landing gear?
I'm actually getting a little bit gun shy after destroying my Stryker today. That was probably my 20th hand launch of it, but the first without any wind. All the rest were into large headwinds.
Otherwise, I was thinking that I need to lift these up with one of my helis, then go fast and then release it. I just need a self landing heli for that!
I don't know where to get the rubber band material for a rubber band launcher. I need to do some research. Kent

Surgical tubing comes to mind. We used to make excellent slingshots out of that stuff.

I had one about a hundred years ago. No, it was only 50 yrs ago...Literally, 56 yrs. ago. ;D I used it to launch gliders.
It was surgical tubing like sol suggested. 2 sticks in ground with about 3ft above ground 4 ft. apart. About 8-10 ft of small guage surgical tubing on each stick with a spear gun V shaped wire tying them together. Hook on bottom front of plane. Used it just like a sling shot.
I've heard, from a friend, of a guy using one for his stryker around here. I'll see what he can tell me after my vacation if you haven't figured it out by then. I remember seeing one or two on youtube a while back.
