They should be OK if they don't get banged around too much. They don't always center too well. Can't beat them for the money.
If you are adding ailerons you'll need extensions too.

Yeah, planes aren't as sensitive as heli's are. I'm still using leftover servos from all my wrecked planes I bought from nitroplanes and sticking them in my scratch built foamies. As long as you get enough deflection each way and you aren't flying faster than 80mph, you shouldn't have a problem. The Tower Pro's should work just fine.

The HXT900 servos from Hobby City seem to be well regarded by the Super Cub crowd and only cost $2.99 each. I bought four of them but haven't made the big mods yet.

You're right; those are good servos for the money. I've got a few of those flying also.

I guess that depends on what you're looking for. Is it a matter of the money you're spending or you want something different from a SC?. If it's not another SC, what other plane were you thinking about?

If it's not another SC, what other plane were you thinking about? Its both, I want something different but its also a matter of money. I was looking at a lot of different airplanes. Pretty much anything that was made of foam, electric, and had ailerons, also RTFs, ARFs, and scratch built foamies.

Conventional wisdom would be a high wing aileron trainer. Something like a SC with ailerons. Quite a few out there, but I don't think anything that is superior in quality or value to the SC. Since you already have the foam and motor it would also seem like the least expensive way.
Scratch built might be a way to go, but I'd stay high wing unless you've had some time flying low wings on a sim.
RTF's usually have 72 radios or cheap 2.4's unless they are more on the expensive side.
ARF's, Plug N' Play's and BNF's come in a wide variety. I'd be looking at something DSM2 compatible. The DX5e Tx is only 50 bucks and an Rx for less.
Or, if you convert the SC, they have a spektrum 2.4 Rx module for the SC with a built in brushed ESC, aileron port and the ability to bypass the brushed ESC so you can use a brushless ESC and motor. It would also work on most any other 4 channel plane.
Without knowing which planes you're looking at, my only other advice, at this point, is to stay away from anything too small or underpowered.

Thanks 19k. I might just upgrade the super cub. I didnt know that they had a spektrum module for the sc that had a channel for ailerons, that sounds like a cool idea. It costs $45, but I would probably just go all seperates since I can use my g2 brushed esc, if I was going to stay brushed. I was looking at the Parkzone F4u Cosair, but its out of my budget right now. It wont be for a couple of weeks before I decide. If I do get another airplane it would be something from Horizon. I have trouble keeping up with 7 cars, 3 helis, and 1 plane that I have now being money an issue let alone add another plane to the fleet. Right now half of my cars are waiting to be repaired. I have to fix the ones I got before I can add more to the fleet. Sorry if Im rambling on.

The PKZ Corsair is a very nice plane. I've had one for about a year. Very cool looking, well built and a stable flyer with no bad habits and capable of standard aerobatics. I've read of a number of guys who have bought this plane for a first aileron plane and some as a first plane. They all had a lot of sim experience before they bought it. It's a plane that is very upgradeable too. Some guys have added retracts and flaps. At least one guy has moded his to do over 100mph. Check out RCGROUPS for more info. 874 pages and counting. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=915798&page=874

Servos: I'm running HXT-900's on every foamie that I've built INCLUDING the newest Multiplex Funjet!
I did multiple pull ups at probably over 100mph last Sunday and it was flawless. I'm now running 22 of these servos with zero failures with LOTS of crashes with the foamies! They have been stressed and they keep on working!
I did have three Towerpro 90's that failed. I'll never run those again.
That said, I would never run any of these in a heli! Kent
