You know, I noticed Lipos were on the banned contents list when I was at the P.O. the other day. I hadn't noticed that before. I was wondering if that was a new ban or one I hadn't noticed before. If it's a real ban, that affects all shippers, not just HC, then getting Lipos is going to be very difficut.

I read on Hobbycity's website that this is a temporary issue and they will be using a different courier to ship the batteries. I guess it was only on 2000mah+ batteries anyway.

So does that mean that you wont be able to buy from online places in the U.S.? Which that would only leave the lhs which they charge 3x more for there lipo batteries which is way too expensive. Does UPS and other shipping companies still ship lipos? Thanks.

LiPo's have been on the dangerous goods list for ages. It's just recently that the posties in some countries have decided to get anal about it. This is directly from HongKong Post's rules and regs... "All dangerous goods including perfumery products and lithium batteries are prohibited to be sent to overseas destinations by air mail."There also seems to be a lack of consensus as to what will be allowed. Hyperion (and other mfgrs) are making split packs out of their larger ones claiming there is a 20Wh limit per cell. This is from their spec sheet... "Packs ending in S6S, S7S, and all packs 8S, 10S, 12S are internally "split" in order to meet international shipping regulations on watt-hours per pack. 6S and 7S Split packs are supplied a "Y" harness for balance adapter... ...VX 6500mAh are no longer in production, as they exceed the 20Wh per cell limit on shipping, but remain in stock at select dealers."And this is from Jason, one of the organizers at HobbyCity. His idea of large batteries is certainly different than Hyperion.... "Hong Kong International Airport is conducting extra screening and creating delays on all orders with large batteries. We advise customers to avoid ordering large Lipoly battery (above 2200mAh) for the next 14 days.
In some cases these parcels may be delayed at the airport for up to 4 days. EMS/Air Parcel tracking will not show during this period. Hobbyking will be increasing it's DHL/UPS offering to customers to help avoid these delays and increasing German and US warehouse stock. We are in constant contact with 'AVSEC' the airport security company and will let you know as soon as the delays are solved."Who knows how all this will turn out.
