Im excited for the future of helis. Almost everyone is coming out with flybarless helis now. Walkera is coming out with several new ones from micro to bigger sizes, 2 blades, 3 blades, Fp, Cp- www.walkera.com/en1/productClass.jsp?proId=Z&p=1 . Hopefully the prices wont be as expensive as FBL kits for higher end helis, as long as the quality is good. And Esky is coming out with a new bird thats FBL, has a scale canopy, havent found too much info about it other than this- www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1231186 . I already see something that might be an issue with this, it has a tail motor. Wonder how much the FBL RTFs will cost? It just leaves you too wonder where we will be in the next few years. Flybars might go the same way as brushed motors and nimh batteries. Who knows maybe in a few years people will be recommending for beginners to start with a FBL Cp heli with built in co-pilot.

I think you are EXACTLY right, Basher!!
When the flight control software is really solid and when they start to use the new 6 axis chips (with a 3 axis accelerometer as well as a 3 axis gyro), then there is no reason not to have FBL with as much or as little co-pilot as you want! I am excited to see where this will go. The software guys need to get into high gear though. While I don't yet own any of those systems, I think there is not enough progammability in these systems and they are too difficult to program what is there.
I look forward to the day when you can have an FBL heli fly as if it had one of those multi $K systems!
I for one still get mentally wound up when I fly my helis. It would be nice to be able to relax and let a computer help you out! Kent

Sooner or later the FBL is going to be everywhere and make everything else look antiquated. That's when I'll jump in. ;D
