It's summertime, Phil. A few of us have been "gone for a while" engaged in other fairweather activities. The forum usually slows down a bit in the summer.
I will admit, though, that not having a good number of newbies join to ask questions has stifled the flow of new topics somewhat.

True Phil, the heli section is a little stale. It's just us vets and most of us seem to have our issues with the birds worked out.
Maybe we all need to spend a little extra time on the beginner's forum offing our knowledge.

I joined rchelitalk to talk about heli's I'm gone a while and the same topics are still on the board is this forum dying or should we call this place rcplank board if this is the way of the world count me out ! HELI'S RULE PERIODE I hear you Phill. It has grown quite stale here over the past few week. But I believe both Sol and Gabe have hit the nail on the head this time. It is summertime here in the lower 48 and a lot of the members are off doing other things. In the past few weeks it has just been way to hot here in the deep south to even get out and enjoy anything, much less flying your heli. If you think back it was the same way around here for about 3 or 4 months and then it started to pick back up around the 2nd. week of Sept. And Gabe is correct. Most of our current active members have been at this for a while now and we tend to forget about the new guy that may be putting up a post. Most of the time those are post that any of us could answer because we have been there and most likely asked the same question. As far as new member we have gained around 40, maybe 50 since about mid May of this year which in my opinion is not to bad for a forum that has almost no contact with the outside. The only outside advertisement, to the best of my knowledge is over at RTF Heli, Doozer's site and a poster that my lhs let me put up about six months after I opened this place and it is still there as of this past weekend. If anybody has a lhs why not ask them if you can put something up about us.There are always new guys there looking for help. Guys I will welcome any and all suggestion on this matter. I too would like to see more of the new people we have signing up asking questions and getting some of the best knowledge fired back at them. As far as the plank section goes, this is what the members wanted and this is a forum that is built by the members, for the members. Change the name.....not while I am around. Dave

Yep, we need some more newbies to help and guys taking the next step to advanced.
I don't mean the guys who go out and buy a 450 for a first heli and don't know a rotor from a rotor tiller. Those guys, while I feel for them, are just too frustrating to try and help unless you can get them to put the 450 on the shelf and buy a coax and a sim.
BTW, I've always enjoyed all forms of RC aircraft and it's nice that some of us can share all of that here on RCHELITALK.
JMHO. ;D

I think the economy is hitting everyone as well and everyone has had to change there spending habits a bit. helis and planes are both fun it is probably cheaper to keep a plane in the air than a heli. Ray

Ray You hit on something there, Ray. I don't like to mention it because things really aren't that bad. But I really can't afford to trash my heli right now. It takes a lot of fun out of flying when you have to be concerned about that. As someone said when I first started, if you can't afford to crash, you can't afford to fly. I've been kind of low keyed because of the summer stuff going on and been busy with other issues. If I remember right (getting harder to do ;D) I think I went through the same cycle last year. A little cooler weather and all with be back to normal.

I think all of you guys have hit the nail on the head. I did tell a guy that was on another forum more geared toward rc cars about Rchelitalk he did join but never posted anything. I gave him some advice that you guys gave me when I first started out, but he never took the advice. Im on several other forums maybe if I put a link to this forum in my signature more people would join, Im not sure if the admins would like that though. Out of all the forums that Ive been to this one is still the best and most friendly. I know of this one brand of rc cars that has a forum, that will give you an infraction if you say something bad about there products. And another forum, in order to be in any contests you have to give them $20 for a "star", one guy suggested not having to pay to be in contests because he couldnt afford it and the admins said pick up cans along the side of the road to pay for the star and support their site, they act like your a guest there and its a privilige being their and they can kick you out any time they feel like it.

I could name several forums where a lot of members spend quite a bit of their time trashing each other, instead of sharing info and helping each other and just generally acting childish. I like it here regardless of what type of flying machine members may prefer. We have a nice group of helpful folks here ready to help out any time.

Alright I agree with you guy's but still I must be honest I see other member's of this forum posting everyday it seem's on other forum's and not on here and i must admit it bother's me some
Because I know that the mc and elk's will cover up my question that I have or someone else's just because it wasn't there question or answer I have gotten use to this and it's ok but I see them posting in several other forum's. But not here and it's just not them that do this but I feel if this forum is going to strive they need to bring there wisdom here as well as other places If our members don't take care of home it will not be here
and I like to hang here as I like the people here all of them sorry guy's just saying from the heart

Good points Phil. I post on a few other forums, but I spend most of my time here. Hope to see us get more people interested and that's hard to do without more good posts from our very knowledable members.
