Most of the balance leads have pulled out of my zippies and I was really nervous about soldering them back on. Anyways, I gave it a go and got her done. It ain't pretty, but they all balance!
An interesting note, I haven been balance charging these since the leads have been out (about 4 months and 50 Stryker and F-22 flights later), and they were all reading about 4.18 to 4.19 volts per cell. Not bad Zippy. Not bad at all.

Liquid tape? What is that? Sounds cool!
The leads pull out from me stuffing them in my Stryker batter y bay. Bad habit.

I've had some success with soldering the balance leads back on. The first time I shorted out one cell and it didn't work, but then the next few times it worked great...Just not the safest thing to do. I've been using the balance board Sol mentioned and it really helps in taking the strain off the connectors and leads. I also try very hard to not inadvertently pull on the connectors and leads when installing and removing the batteries. I think that's where most of the damage has been done around here.

Yup, I'm guilty as charged (no pun intended).
The leads would get hung up on the battery bay hatch on the Stryker. Of course, I just pulled until the battery cane out - or the leads gave out.

You can buy liquid tape in a variety of colors it is a liquid rubber that is like a soft rubber insulation when it is dry. Unlike silicone liquid tape does not contain any chemicals that will corrode the wires during its curing process.. Ray

Repaired another one on a Flightmax today. These batteries have very brittle balance wires, but they are long so if you tape them down to the pack it takes some strain off the wire at the solder joint and you still have enough lead to plug into the balance port on the charger.
