Im looking at upgrading the electronics in my super cub and cant decide between the Spektrum DX5e or the Exceed Rc 2.4ghz Tx. I like the DX5e because it can bind with all of Horizons BNF planes, but I also like Exceeds Tx because it can be used with my g2. I cant afford a DX6i. For those that have the Exceed Tx does it have more than one model memory, I know that you have to do almost everything via a computer, that isnt going to be a problem. So what do you guys think? Thanks. www.hobbypartz.com/exrc62tr.htmlor www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Reviews.aspx?ProdID=SPM5500#reviewsTab

If I had an extra DX6I or a DX5e I would give them to you to keep you away from the walkera stuff You can buy one of the spektrum clone receivers for $12 and use a spektrum radio on your G2

Unfortunately, I don't think a DX5e will work with the G2 even with a spektrum Rx; not enough channels.
I agree with Ray on the choice of a DX5e even if you can't use it in the G2. I've got 2 of the DX5e's and they work great.

I have noticed the DX6I has come down in price it might take a little digging to find the best deal. But I have found the DX6I for around $149 I think the 5E is about $100 for the extra $49 you could have the best of both worlds and there are some good used ones on Ebay .

Thanks guys. I think Im going to go with DX5e. I have a $50 gift card to my LHS so it would only be $50. I thought really hard about the Dx6i and looked at them on ebay but for the tx only they still go for around $100 then I would need an rx too. Im still not 100% sure. Im going to my LHS tomorrow to buy which ever one I decide to buy.
How good are the spektrum clone recievers? I could buy the dx6i tx only, with my gift card for $100 then buy a spektrum clone reciever for say $20, add it all up and its $120. $70 more then the Dx5e and I can use it with helis too.

rc I have stayed quite on this one but it is time for me to speak . Man save your money a little longer and go with the DX61. To be honest I don't know if I would trade mine for anything, not even a DX7. As far as the clone rx I can't speak on those, you might check with Kent I believe he has some or Sol. OK I feel better now. Dave

I think this is the hardest I have ever thought about something in a long time. Ive been doing google searches, going on different forums, trying to get as much info as I can about what I should buy. I think I might go with the Dx6i, still dont have any idea though. ;D I dont know if I should buy the dx6i with a receiver and get the real thing or save about $30 and get a clone receiver.

If you can swing it, basher, go for the DX6i. It'll fit your needs far into the future with model memory and being fully programmable. I'd also go for the bare Tx and get the cheapie Rx. They seem to work fine so far. I bought two of them along with Ray and 19k and likely half the other members on the forums. The only problem I've heard on these Rx's so far, is a range issue, but that seems to be a rare occurrence.

How much does Target hobby charge for shipping? Whenever it comes to this hobby I hate spending money, I guess its because Im cheap. ;D

Depending on where you live the shipping for one RX to the midwest was $6.. I have 3 of them now you cannot tell the difference between them and the real McCoy... You better buy some before Dave gets his memory back and starts cornering the market on them.. Ray

If I did get the dx6i I would probably buy it with the rx for about $30 more just so I have Horizons customer service. Im still undecided if I should buy the dx6i or not, $150 is still alot of money...

Here's about the cheapest DX6i I can find (no Rx) in the US, other than eBay. Have no clue what their shipping is. Just in case you change your mind about getting the Tx/Rx combination. www.bigskyhobby.com/cart.php?m=view
