I took my g2 out to fly a little while ago and I didnt do a range check on my g2 yet since getting the dx6i so I thought I would do one. I followed the manual on how it says to do it and everything was working fine. So then I took it out of range check mode, and decided to take off from where it was which was about 90 ft. As soon as I took off I knew something was wrong the g2 pitched forward and I tryed to correct it but I didnt have any control with elevator.
And then it crashed. Walking to the crash site the g2 was in 3 pieces. I took off the canopy and checked all the control surfaces. The elevator servo wasnt responding. I turned the g2 off and on again and it still wasnt responding, so I think that was the cause of the crash.
BUT is this just a coincidence that the servo decided to fail right after the range check or did the range check have anything to do with the crash?
The damage so far totals up to be about $25 the whole head is about toast. I might just buy a 450 sooner than I thought.

Man, that's too bad r/c. You just get a good radio and then you have a crash. Do you recall if the rx was flashing after the wreck? A red flash would mean a power interruption and an orange flash, I think, on the 6200, would mean a signal loss. I'm thinking that you have another issue, possibly the servo you mentioned. Double check everything before you fly it again and re-bind the radio. After the range test, power down the heli and radio and restart them. I do this after a range test since reading, sometime back, about issues flying right after a range test. I don't know for sure, whether it might be a problem flying right after the range test, but it sure doesn't hurt to go through the extra steps. Better luck next time out.

You mentioned you had to file down a servo connector to get it to plug in that seem's odd I have never run into that I would start there.. Ray

Thanks 19k, I was pretty bummed about it. I dont remember if the rx was flashing or not after the crash. I turned on the g2 last night and everything worked but that one servo still wasnt working so I think that was the cause of the crash. You already answered my question that I didnt even ask yet, when I did plug the g2 in last night I noticed the rx was flashing orange, but everything was still working.
I dont recall reading in the manual anything about when the rx flashes. So when you fly, the rx should be solid orange and if its flashing orange its a signal loss, and if its flashing red means a power interruption. Im going to have to do some searching about it.
I dont know if the g2 is worth fixing the parts not including the servo would be about $35 to fix it. I was pretty surprised at how much damage there was considering that about 6 months ago I crashed while attempting a loop, full throttle straight into the ground I only broke two main blade grips then. Ive been looking at a 450 build for a while now. Right now I dont think I have the funds for a build just after buying the dx6i.
The parts that broke were- a flybar several ball links both main blade holders feathering shaft rotor head block cracked canopy one wooden main blades covering ripped which might affect how air flows over it possibly a bent main shaft
Also alot of my parts on my g2 are starting to get worn so they would have to be replaced eventually too.
Like they say sh!t happens.

You mentioned you had to file down a servo connector to get it to plug in that seem's odd I have never run into that I would start there.. Ray Hey Ray we must have been typing at the same time so I missed your post. I had to file the servo connector down some because it had a tab on the side and the AR6200 doesnt have it. This is what the plug looked like- www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGVD5&P=7 . I had the same problem with using Futaba servos with my JR receiver on my rc cars. I think the servo just decided to fail, it was a cheap stock g2 servo, Ive had 1 other g2 servo fail before this. I found some information about the AR6200 light blinking orange, it blinks some times because if you turn the tx on and the rx on, but then unplug the battery leaving the still tx on, and plug the battery back in the rx will read that there was a power loss so it will blink. I also read that some other things will cause it to blink. www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/transmitters-receivers/16762-ar7000-dx6i-flashing-lights.html

Always turn the tx off if you've unplugged the rx or had a faulty plug in procedure. Never leave the tx on and then plug the battery back in. Regardless if it is a power, or signal loss, the system needs to be recycled. It does sound like you had a bad servo or bad servo connection. Better than a radio problem. I've arrived at the same point with the G2. Just doesn't seem like rebuilding for a 3rd time is worth it. The cheap plastic parts don't last forever. I've got more than my money out of it.

I dont know if its worth fixing or not. Ive been looking at maybe a 450 build. The g2 is looking like a barebone heli right now, I already stole the servos off it to put in my HBFP that hasnt flown in 7 months and I took off the AR6200. Ive gotten my moneys worth out of it maybe around 200 flights.

If you decide to not fix it, basher, I'll buy it for parts.
