I was flying it on a 3S battery and wasn't even at WOT and it appears that the motor mount broke. Is the stock motor mount not good enough for running 4S? Is there an after-market replacement that is better? Anyone think Horizon Hobby will warranty the mount and prop? Major bummer!!

I'd think that the stock mount on the Stryker would be strong enough. They upgraded the mount when they came out with the second version of the plane. I'd certainly take a shot at Horizon on warranty. You get the right person and they may replace the whole plane if it's badly damaged.

Wow! I never once had an issue with the stock motor mount - even on 4S batteries. That looks like a manufacturer's defect to me. I'm sure Horizon would warrant that. The stock mounts are pretty cheap - if you can't wait to get in the air. Otherwise, I'd spend $40 and buy one of Gary's mounts are www.customrcparts.com . They're bullet proof. It's a good upgrade if you're planning on doing any kind of motor upgrade.

A VERY quick phone call to Horizon Hobby and the motor mount and prop are on the way. This is why I'd spend twice the money to buy the same item than buy from Banana Hobby.
I was on hold for support for 20 seconds,,I told the guy what happened,, he had my account from my phone number,,,he said the parts will be shipped today,,,,DONE!
They are in Illinois,,,I got the Stryker in two days,,so I should be back in the air by thursday!
Oh,,Gabe,,I did order a APC 6 X 5.5E prop too. Thx for the info!!

Yup yup! Just be sure to manage your throttle - VERY important with that prop. Maybe try a quick WOT pass, land, and take a temp reading just so you know where you stand. I flew on it for months without any issues.

That is excellent on the warranty!
I flew the 6x5.5 on 3s with the Turnigy motor. It is a LOT faster with that prop! I never tried it with the stock motor. I'll bet you will notice it for sure!
I also have had no problem with the stock mount. You must have had a bad one. Kent

Yeah, as you approach the 1:1 diameter to pitch ratio, you can really push the limits of the setup.

Gabe,,,I got the 6 X 5.5 APC prop but it appears I need a different prop adapter. The hub of this prop is smaller diameter than the stock one and the blades bottom out on the adapter. I can use a couple washers to get the clearence but I'm worried about the spinner not having enough threads into it.
I don't know what to,,or where to,, look for adapters.

Hmmm, if it's an E prop then that's the issue. You can go to ACE Hardware and get some of the lock washers with the teeth on them. That's what I'm using on the Fun Jet with my Mega. Works just fine. Just bring the spinner and collet and prop into the store with you. Cost me about $1 for 4 washers.
