Lost an aileron mid flight. Tried to ditch it in the water channel again but it landed in a tree and fell onto someone's rooftop.
No one home so I borrowed a ladder from a neighbor. Nose busted and the fuse is really pliable in that area. It's probably time for a new fuse. I'm definitely upgrading the clevises and will probably go to balsa ailerons too.

What would life be if not for retrieving planes from roof tops and trees? I just went through something similar.

Just another reason to keep movin' on the darkside stryker rebuild. Got most of the fuse done today - right after I chucked the FunJet in the trash.

Bummer deal! What happened to the aileron? Servo failure?

Nah, the clevis pulled out of the foam on the aileron. I knew better than to fly a high speed plane with just CA glue holding the clevis on. 100+ mph I always use clevises with screws at a minimum. I'm a fan of the DuBro bolt style clevises I'm using on the Darkside Stryker. That pretty much guarantees no one gets hurt. I was really worried about this 100+mph 4 lb lawn dart landing on someone since I was flying in my apartment complex and it fell from about 150' up. Attachments:
