Boy, did you come to the right place for advice. I spent half of my first season of flying getting tree born planes down. There are 4 ways: 1) If the plane isn't too high or in too a dense clutch of foilage; a good casting rod, heavy monafilament and a good size sinker can be cast to a nearby location to shake the plane down. Warning! Don't cast too close or you'll hit the plane and cause more damage than the crash in the tree caused. 2) find some friends with a cherry picker, or very long ladder, to go up after it. It pays to know some volunteer firemen. 3) Wait for a big wind. 4) Pray to the god of your choice. I've done all four methods with more success than failures. Good luck with yours.

It's in a very tall tree at the top. I don't think I could throw that high if I were Randy Johnson. Ive read about using a slingshot to shoot a lead weight with fishing line tied to it. Was going to try that but the band broke on a warm up shot. Thought about calling the FD but i would feel just a little guilty about using tax dollors for such an unnecessary reason. But only just a little... Tree-1 Trevor-0. Tomorrow is another day.

You know, as kids we never thought twice about climbing a tree for whatever it was at the top that we wanted. Be it apples or kites or a hat that somebody tossed up there. I say climb the tree...or find a kid.

Awesome. I was crying like a baby about it on facebook and an old friend of mine happens to own a tree cutting service. He said he'd come by this weekend and either use his bucket truck or use spikes to climb the tree and get it. Sweet. Who said social network sites are useless. Sol....Maybe after loosing about 30 lbs I might climb that tree......Nah, thats a big ass tree. I don't think I would ever cllimb it.Heights and me don't get along so great. I climbed as a kid but not like that. We won't even talk about the time I got drunk when I was around 19 and climbed the water tower down the road. That was plain stupid. Especially considering I had to shimmy up the support wires to get to the ladder. Whats that saying? God must favor drunks and young children.

Great you found a guy with a bucket.
No plane is worth breaking your neck over. I though about hiring a kid a time or two, but the idea he might slip and fall took that option off the list.

So the wind did the trick? Likely came out of the tree with far less damage than any other plan. Gotta like that.

Got pretty lucky with it. Just a few scrunched up spots on the wings. Also the wings are a folded design and they tore a little at the fold. A little wood glue ( yeah it works pretty darn good n a pinch) and some packing tape and they are now stronger then before. Flew it some in an empty wally world parking lot and had to quit when a gust of wind pushed it pretty good while banking in a turn and I didn't have time to steer away from the one lone semi parked in the whole lot. It hit the trailer not the truck. Slightly bent a washer that serves as the mounting plate for the motor. Easily hammered back into shape and its ready for next time out. Good day. Good day.

You're learning the game well fire. It's all about the things that, can happen, will happen. ;D Even when you get to be a very experienced pilot things happen that will amaze you. Ask me how I know.

And that's why my affinity is towards planes. If you did that with a heli you'd be looking at a totaled bird :0

Gabe thats a good point. I loved the few controlled hovers I got with the g2. It's the adrenaline pumped clenched muscles type of fun and excitement. And i love it. But I just can't afford the parts that go into learning on that thing.( nor do i have the patience to wait for parts to come back in stock from XSmeli ) My planes though, some tape and glue and you'll be flying again in 20 minutes for next to nothing.

I love heli's too, but in all honesty I have more fun with my planks. I'll be posting some more bids of my Darkside Stryker runs today. 130+mph. That's what u have to look forward too as you get better
