Hey fellow plankers!
With all this new territory we are entering with Kent and I completing our darkside builds, I had an idea. What is the thought of creating a darkside status club? Requirements would be based on speed of the plane (obviously somewhere in the triple digits) and there would be some sort of goody bag for achieving status.
I'm thinking a custom sticker for the plane, maybe a shirt, and we create a thread that lists our current members that achieve status.
Let me know your thoughts on this. I want to run it by the original darksiders too - since its their name I'm using. Maybe they want in too.

Well, that's two thumbs up. I'll start working on it and laying down some outlines for review.

I PM'd Mopar and Gryphon asking their permission for the "Darkside" name to be used. If they'd rather keep the name on their forum, we can go ahead and think of something else. KENT: I'm asking the darkside boys about the accuracy of the speedo tube and if its acceptable for "their"speed recordings. For now though, here's a rough draft based on the requirements RCUniverse Darksiders Mopar, Gryphon, Chippedprop, Strykerflier, and other elders have set forth to keep their thread the best in the world: DARKSIDE STATUS CLUB RC Heli Talk in conjunction with RCUniverse, Moparmyway, Gryphon, and other elders of the Darkside threads have created a status for those individuals who have constructed electric RC airplanes reaching speeds equal to or greater than 130mph. The requirements for Darksider Status are as follows:
1 The RC Airplane must reach a speed equal to or greater than 130mph.
2 The speed must be achieved on a straight and level pass. If the plane is coming out of a dive or if the plane is “diving”, the recorded speed shall be null and void.
3 Speed recordings shall be considered based on two methods:
3.1 Doppler Radar Gun: Speed shall be recorded on a straight and level pass with a minimum of 3 seconds of wide open throttle (WOT) on a straight and level pass, prior to reaching the Doppler radar gun.
3.2 Doppler Analysis via Video/Sound file: Speed shall be recorded on a straight and level pass and the instrument of recording shall be a stationary video camera with audio. A minimum of 3 seconds of WOT on a straight and level pass, prior to reaching the stationary video camera, and a minimum of 3 seconds of WOT after passing the stationary video camera on a straight and level pass. Passes should be as low as possible, preferably 5' off of the ground, but acceptable up to 50' with declining accuracy as altitude increases (speed recordings may be less than actual speed). Phoenix ICE logs, Eagle Tree data logs, or other equivalent shall be included with the video for verification of accuracy.
4 Those that achieve Darkside status will receive a sticker for their aircraft and a T-shirt which they may display and wear proudly!

Here's a very rough draft of the logo for the sticker: This one is 6" x 2.5": This one is much smaller and is only 3"x1.5": What do ya think? Cool? Not? Opinions welcome.

The rules look simple enough and to the point.
Not so sure about the logo. Looks a bit ghoulish, with the dripping blood, for an airplane. Something that looks evil "fast" might be better. Just my 2 cents.

I voted for no.4. How about black with red outline?

Just modified the post and added a third. I was thinking if we die cut them so its just the lettering, the first and second might work best.

I like the one with the lettering reversed out of the black background and positive in the white background. To me it looks like the lettering is breaking through from "The darkside" into "The light".
