My Funjet Ultra kit showed up tonight. I ordered it from the UK. I was too impatient to wait for them to be available here.
This is BAD news!
Bad news because it horribly blows away the original Funjet. I mean NO COMPARISON at all. Now I know why they are not wanting them here just yet. They want to drain their inventories of the old one.
This Funjet Ultra is Ultra BAD AZZ. The Foam is super hard, like it's already glassed over. I wonder how they did that? The foam is also very smooth to the touch.
There is also a real carbon rod for the wing instead of the fiberglass one.
This thing is amazing. I've never felt foam this stiff and strong. I think you could stand on the wing!
Wow! These are not cheap, but wait until you feel the foam on one of these!
I would suspect though that the foam could be more brittle. Maybe that's not a bad thing. The original Funjet's foam 'bends' when stressed. That's not good either. It's hard to get back in shape and then it's 'flimsy' in that area.
Now, what should I do? I guess I'll fly my new Fast Funjet until it fatigues and self destructs? Then put all the good power in this one? Kent

Sure, fly the old one until it's done and then put all the upgraded stuff on the new ultra airframe.
Those guys at multiplex really know ther stuff. Everyone of their planes are great.
I've still got the fun jet airframe just sitting there waiting to get built. ;D

Well, you all's original Funjet will be fine!
They have those 2836-2350kv motors back in stock...
You need to fly one of these, 19k!!

Yeah, I ordered the motor so sooner or later I'll catch up to you on the base funjet.

The base Funjet with this power setup will go 110mph or so. Mine clocked 106 today in a straight line. You can do all manner of 'stuff' at WOT!
I pulled vertical figure 8's a LOT to day! Those are awesome when you have unlimited vertical at 100mph!
Oh yeah! Kent

What's a vertical figure 8?
Dang I can't wait to get my FJ in the mail. Gotta order a new ICE for it though. I put the 50 in the Stryker.

A vertical figure 8 is just like a regular figure 8, but instead of doing it in a horizontal plane you do it in the vertical plane. You've got to have lots of power and manueverability to pull that off.

Yep, exactly! It's really cool looking too at high speeds!
You go up into a loop and once past the top apex, you roll 180 and to a 45 degree angle down and then just pull up into another loop and do the same. It's awesome at 100mph+ and who knows how high.
Gabe, your new mild Stryker can do these too. You have to just know what the bottom of each loop looks like for control, if you do em low, but I doubt you would have any trouble at all. I scared myself coming down too hot where I barely could pull up! That's the hard part. Knowing how fast you can do the bottom of the loops! Now I let off a little on the down hill part.
It's all just too much fun! Kent

Gotcha! That seems easy enough. One of my favorite tricks is to WOT a straight and level at about chest-high coming right towards me (or some innocent bystander alongside me) and then pull up at the last second into an inverted straight and level the other direction. I'll just add an outside loop to that. Sounds easy enough!
Not sure about 100+ mph though! That's insane! We gotta fly together one of these days buddy. Don't know how, but I'll figure it out.

I've been flying lately with another fellow in the Austin club. His Funjet is a little faster than my normal one, but we're close enough to fly patterns together!
We have been doing suicide runs and flying together for a few weeks. He said, lets do a WOT loop together from the deck! Ok. Mine has carbon reinforcements. His doesn't! Well, we started into the loop at WOT together, maybe 30-40 feet apart. We headed up together. I was not at full throws, so I just followed him. Well, on the way down, I pulled out of the bottom and then I heard a huge SPLAT with tinkling sounds of parts flying everywhere! He pancaked into the ground right in front of me! It sucks that I couldn't watch it, but it sure sounded nasty!
His battery was about 200 feet from the crash site!! Going 100+ does interesting things to parts when you crash!!
Well, he already had a spare airframe, so we'll fly again together soon! This time, he's adding more carbon!
Fun stuff! Kent

That sounds like fun. I hope your friend has better luck next time.
We, my wife and I, finally joined a club. They are an all electric group. My first flying with them will be in the Metro Dome this month. Unfortunately, there is a 20oz/20mph limit on the indoor flying. We've got a few Ultra micros and helis to fly and some small 3D's. The high speed stuff will have to wait until the spring thaw. I will be putting together an Ultra funjet for that.

Wow Kent! Sucks for your buddy. Just shows that taking a little extra time to do the proper reinforcements makes a huge difference.

Oops, sorry, the above post was about my normal Funjet, which used to be my fast one, which now has my normal power plant in it!
My ultra has the stupid parts in it now and it smacked a tree from letting the NanoTech battery go into the wah-wah state! Ugh, noone probably knows even what I'm talking about! Kent
