Parts failure and a crash? Never heard of that before.

No, no - I'm a victim of the wah-wah state as well. That's how I lost my first fun jet in a tree and went on my jungle exploration to retrieve it.
Wah-wah state sucks, especially when you're under 100' altitude with a Fun Jet. I've noticed the gliding characteristics of the Fun Jet are not even close to that of my Stryker. It's basically a lawn dart.

Well, the FJ Ultra no longer exists.
I launched it at about half throttle and it proceeded to roll and roll. It never heard another thing from the transmitter.
It arced over and exploded on the parking lot pavement at 100++ mph (it clocked at over 95 at half throttle in a straight line, ~150 mph at WOT).
I found the receiver remote (AR-6200) about 50 feet from the crash site. I never did find the main receiver, but I did find the AR-6200 label. The battery was flat, but it didn't burn. Pieces of the plane were everywhere.
Fortunately, the motor and ESC survived, the best I can tell. It was hard to tell what anything else used to be.
Unfortunately, there was a family not far from the crash site on bicycles watching everyone fly. The crash scared them pretty good. They immediately left. That is sad.
I hate it when you just don't have control. I really have no idea what broke.
I already have another one on order! Kent

Wow that sucks. Seems strange to lose complete transmission. Maybe a servo burnt out on takeoff or the clevis came loose? Man that blows.

Yeah, that sucks. It really aggrevates me when a plane just stops flying or goes crazy out of control because usually the crash damage is so bad it's hard to figure out what went wrong so you can avoid it in the future. You can understand why those folks were scared.
