The Horizon Hobby Companies are really pumping out the new planes for the Christmas season. E-Flite has a carbon framed (?) YAK-54 due out mid Dec. It has a 48" wingspan and is supposedly a 3D BNF. $400.00 bucks. Too much for me but it looks very very nice. www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFL10080

I saw that the other day. Looks cool, but again, I'm not a fan of E-Flite. Too many bad experiences and poorly made kits.

Horizon has pulled out all the stops for the holidays. The Eflite kits are improving, but they aren't meant for beginner or intermediate parkflyer modelers for the most part.

That plane's construction sounds very interesting! I hope it turns out as good as it sounds. For the utmost in durability and flight, be sure to check out EPP foamies with airfoils. The Hyperion Sniper II and it's bigger brother the Sniper X II are awesome fliers. These are designed by RC Factory in the Czech republic. These guys designed a few even better fliers, like a Yak-54, Yak-55 and the SU-29. I have a Sniper II. I also have an SU-29 and these are unbelievable for 3d. They fly hands off inverted, do knife edge like no other, and do all manner of patterns with zero bad tendencies. There are no US distributors for RC Factory's planes at this point. I ordered mine from the factory and was improperly charged VAT tax. They would not refund that. Oh well. Here's a link to the Sniper II: www.rcdude.com/servlet/the-135/Hyperion-Sniper-3D-EPP/DetailAnd it's bigger brother that has been out of stock for a while: www.rcdude.com/servlet/the-137/Hyperion-Sniper-X-II/DetailAnd here is the RC Factory website: www.rc-factory.eu/inshop/scripts/set.asp?Level=13Kent

I've got a feeling we'll be seeing more of the CF and foam models soon. It really should be the best of both worlds.
I can't wait to try an EPP with an airfoil. I may just take the flat Yak plan and airfoil it. I need to buy some very thin EPP.
