This should really be fun. First time out at Eflite for a 3D, scale like, brushless UMX. Attachments:

I was drooling ove r that a while back. Cool looking little guy. A little more oomph then the other UM's too. I think it has a 2s battery instead of the usual UM batteries.

Yep, fire, it's a little 2S 120mA. It seems to be up to the task.

Hey, a friend picked up one of these and brought it to the field last Sunday! The thing flies incredibly well, but is a handful in the wind.
It handled 20mph winds though!!! Landing was a little tough.
The roll rate was about 4 rolls/second on high rates! It's a FAST little guy!!!!
I want one! Kent

I saw a guy at the Metro dome fly it this week. I talked to him later and he said he had it dumbed down quite a bit.
Hard to believe it can handle 20mph winds, but now that I think of it I've been flying the Champ in 13-15mph winds, so I guess the more powerful mini beast would be up to that.

I got one of these babies! Unfortunately, it is under the Christmas tree for a while. Reports I have read are very positive. Horizon Hobby really did a couple of dumb things with it though, they put an unusual electrical connector between the battery and the plane which prevents you from using after market batteries such as Hyperion or Nano Techs in them, and the stock battery won't connect to other battery chargers! In fact; out of the box, the only way you can charge the stock battery is off a 12V car battery, or some sort of a 12V power source- DUMB! Fortunately, I found a source of connectors and a "Y" harness so that you can use 2 standard 1S 3.7V batteries wired in series or modify other batteries to work and to hook up to after market chargers. If anyone needs a link to deal with these problems, let me know. Otherwise, it looks like a heck of a fine little plane.

If you have a power source (converter) it shouldn't be a problem, right? Either way that is a pretty dumb thug for them to do. The little 2-channel trainer I bought my dad is the same way. 3 hr wall charge or 40 min cigarette lighter car charge. Dumb.

If you have a 12V power source, you can charge the stock E-Flite batteries with the charger that comes in the box. They don't do well at holding a charge below 50 degrees F however. The Thunderpower and Hyperion batteries do much better in colder weather. I have a whole bunch of Nano Tech 1S 3.7V 160 mAh batteries laying around, and I would rather use 2 of them in a "Y" harness to power the Beast. Check out this site; www.rc-connectors.com Click on the Beast listing.

Good find. The harness seems to be the answer to a questionable battery/connector design. You would think they would have realized that the majority of hobbyists would want to use a standard charger.

I think they do realize it. They also sell an optional "Y" harness, and charger connections (which are backordered, BTW). Their greed is showing me thinks..
