As in thee other thread I asked if you guys if you thought that the rotors sounded fast which I have thought right along ;D Ok went back to hirobos site today and was reading info on there esc's Well it seems that the esc they sell in there copterx parts list is not a heli esc it is a plank esc and if I'm correct about this it will give almost all power instantly there is no soft start either and thats why it spins the heli 3/4 the way around when I start it So I ordered a new esc from hk today and will see what happens then maybe a little bit more control ;D

I can see where a plank ESC might not have a soft start, but it should still give you full range allowing you to throttle up from zero to full power. Otherwise, how would you ever land the plane without incident?

Well it does give throttle settings from low to high But the low setting is still too high for a heli IMO plus it could be motor and pinion setup too ;D

I tried an airplane esc in a heli before it did not work very well it seem to increase in steps rather than infinite adjustment.. Ray

If it's a plank ESC it's not going to have a soft start. That's the only issue trying to use it on a heli. Good idea to get one that has the soft start.

I like the 'Super Soft Start' of the Hobbywing Platinum ESC's. You can go to WOT when everything is still and it will take probably 10 seconds to spool up. Very smooth indeed!
With a plank ESC, or any with the soft start turned off, it's dangerous with a heli!!! You can strip gears, too!
AK, you might want to look at the directions with your ESC. I have never seen one that doesn't have a soft start of some description. Kent

Kent I did look at the directions in chinglish and they are pretty standard programing directions ;D
Only thing is every time I try to program soft start or super soft start or brake off it doesn't happen and after reading the reviews on this esc
I have come to the conclusion it is not the esc I would like to have on this heli ;D I had this one on the hk500 also and it would go through gears like nobodies business
I received an email today the new esc and programing card has shipped
So will see how it works in this heli

It sounds like might have got the "catch all" instructions that cover a few different ESC's but not all programming applies to every ESC.

Yeah, sounds like that ESC is not for helis.
I hope your new one works like it should! Kent
