Both Raygun and I have recently started on similar projects. He is putting together an old standard, the EXI 450SE v2. There are a number of us on this board that have built these and they are a decent inexpensive Trex clone. I've always been interested in the new frame design of the EXI New Style, so I picked one up a few months ago. I thought it might be an interesting thread if we do a side-by-side build comparison. Ray's getting some pics together, so I'll start with mine. Here's the frame with motor and servos attached. I found out early on that the servos needed to be installed differently than those shown in this pic. The linkages just weren't long enough on the right and left servos. This frame layout is very similar to the Thunder Tiger Mini Titan with super easy access to all the servos as well as the motor. Attachments:

This pic shows the re-mounted servos with the hub up and the balls mounted on the outer part of the servo horn. This allows for the straightest shot to the swash. The other bonus to this frame is the extra long battery tray. CG should be easy with this much room. The canopy is extra long as well. So far the installed components are: MG14 HexTronic servos for cyclic (if these fail, DS410's will replace them) MD922 Henge tail servo GY401 Futaba gyro TY2215 3550kv Turnigy outrunner I just finished setting up the servos and adjusting the linkages, but still waiting for the ESC to arrive (HobbyWing 40A Platinum). I'll route and tie up the wiring when the ESC gets here. That's where I am at this point. OK, Ray, your turn... Attachments:

I will get those soon I have two projects going a DDVP for a Blade SR and this 450 build they never leave enough room for wires I was thinking about widening out the frame to put the rear servo inside and to have room for a neat clean wire installation. I changed to a metal head and tail Between Akent and 19000 they have seen enough of the plastic tails explode so I will error on the side of safety.. Ray

Nice idea, Sol! I don't have one of those new designs, but I think it's supposed to be a clone of the Trex Pro.
I do really like that servo setup a LOT! The standard SE V2 servo setup is a real pain to work on.
I look forward to seeing more of your build. Kent

Not really all that similar to the Trex Pro, Kent. The Pro uses a standard configuration swash (same as EXI SE v2) where the EXI New Style is different. The anti-rotation pin on the EXI (see pic) is in the front with no incorporated linkage ball. The Pro has the front servos side by side with the horns pointing outward and hubs toward the rear, whereas the EXI has the horns pointing inward and the hubs toward the front. The Pro comes standard (I think) with a torque tube tail. The Pro has the motor mounted shaft up where the EXI sits on top with the shaft down. Very easy access with the EXI method of mounting. I'm thinking about changing the skids to something more mainstream. These are an odd shape and stand too high for my liking. Attachments:

Uh, Ray, this comparison is a bit one-sided so far. Got some pics for the viewers yet? I have a great idea for Santa to bring you this year...it starts with a "C" and ends with a "amera"

Hey Sol I really like that style of frame. My transpro has the same frame style I liked how everything fit together. Took a few times looking to figure it out as my transpro has different head and skids Good luck on the build

Yeah, I remember when you started that build, Phil. I like anything that's easier to setup and the servo arrangement is a snap to fix or replace something.
I have to admit, though, the Trex Pro has even a better setup for the front servos with them being side-by-side making them not as wide as the EXI. That situation wouldn't work on the EXI since the motor sits up high and really close to the mast.
