A few months ago I bought a walkera 22e to learn how to fly. I knew it was not the greatest, but if i crashed then oh well. I am building a 450 clone but also wanted to make my 22e a little better so i want to completely convert it to the 2.4 ghz version to go completely brushless. should i stick with walkera components or set it up for my transmitter i bought for the 450 (futaba 6ex) ? Any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful.

Welcome to the forums, ajohnson.
You're in for a big job to convert your 22E to brushless AND Futaba receiver. I'm not sure it's worth the effort and moreover, the cost.
Brushless main motor Brushless tail motor. Compatible Futaba receiver Gyro Two brushless ESC's
The 22E is designed to be light and all the above parts would increase the weight significantly. Plus you'd still have a motorized tail, which is marginal at best. My suggestion would be to keep the 22E the way it is and fly it until you're tired of replacing parts. Save your money for the 450.
Just my opinion, others may differ.

I think Sol is right here. Save that money and put it into something else. We've both done the modding thing. I'll speak for me who put a lot of money into a Honey Bee Fixed Pitch, in the end, you'll wish you hadn't. I Guru Z'd it; Super Skids; put a co-pilot on it; bought a few extreme metal heads; many metal booms; three new servos; a gyro; esc's; brushless motors; many blades.... etc. Where is it now? In a spare parts box, where it belongs. The moral of the story is, I could have bought an Align 250SE super combo, twice (if they would have been available at the time). I ended up reverting everything back to the original HBFP, and flying that thing into the ground... over and over. Repairs were much cheaper. However, the education I received was priceless, and I'm passing it on to you for free. Make that 450 better!

I would stay away from any walkera radio but for a cheap solution buy your brushless motors at hobbyking and the have clone receivers there that work with Futaba and are cheap and work good as well..
