UH, Oh, not so much of a "FunJet" anymore. OK, grab the glue and you'll be back in biz in a half hour. Well, maybe a little longer.

Nose dive at 3/4 throttle. She never pulled up. I'm guessing either the battery slid or an elevon failed. Took me half hour of searching but I found her in a bush alongside one of our buildings in the complex. I'm just glad no one was hurt. I guess I now have an excuse to buy the ultra funjet.
Actually, I wasnt too happy with the flight characteristics of the FJ. It wasn't as stable as the Stryker. Does anyone have any suggestions for a new belly lander that screams?

Sounds like the old "Brown Out" syndrome. If you're not doing it already you might want to run a BEC. If you're doing the BEC then the problem might have been either a cell collapsing or something as simple as a bad solder joint or a faulty ESC. Usually with a bad crash like that the forensics are mystery due to the damage and dispersement of the components...Unless you have a data logger hooked up. Don't know of anything hotter than the Ultra FJ or the Stryker.

I haven't had the chance to hook up the ICE to the computer yet. I will when I get home this week. We'll see what really happened.

Keep us posted. Like I've said and heard from many others, "It's one thing when you know you made a mistake and crashed, I can deal with it, but when I can't figure out what caused it I get reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally pissed."

Never cleared the data logging. It filled up long before the crash flight. Since I never make pilot errors, I'm going with mechanical failure or the battery slid.

Well, sad to hear that, Gabe. If you are flying a 'Park flier' receiver (AR6100, AR6110), then that is very high on the possibility list. I have lost three planes from these. A Great Planes Evader, and TWO Funjets. These receivers are not designed to go very far away from you. I won't run these any more on anything other than close flying foamies. As for something REALLY fast that is a belly lander? Check this out: shop.rc-electric-jets.com/HET-ME-163-Komet-HETME163RED.htmI have one of these on order! There is one on youtube that hit 222mph with two motors. 160 is supposed to be common! 90 bucks, too, for fiberglass fuse and built up wing. You will like the Funjet Ultra as it is way more durable, but they fly the same as the regular Funjet. I haven't had any trouble flying these, even my really heavy 6s running fast one. I just built up another one after the last crash. It's flying in the low 150mph range. Take care, Kent

Nice find Kent. I had seen that and completely forgot about it. I still have my funjet sitting here waiting to get built. I just don't have enough horizon, trees, trees, trees, for anything much over 100mph without having it constantly in a banking turn. Have fun with it. You too Gabe.

Gabe, You can clear the buffer every time you plug in a battery. When you turn on your transmitter, go to full throttle before plugging in the battery to the ESC. When the ESC sees full throttle for a few seconds, it clears the buffer. As a bonus, it will NOT start logging untill you bring the throttle down off of full. I throttle up, then plug in my batts on the super fast bungee launched ones and listen to the ESC sing its tones untill I am ready to launch, then I go zero throttle, hear the ESC arm, and walk back to let go. Sometimes this takes several minutes with a bungee, this way you dont worry about filling the buffer with no data
