Went home to see the folks this week and flew the stock Stryker I bought my Dad. On the first flight, almost 4 min into it, I hear a loud "pop!" and then silence. Landed safely to find the motor mount had blown out completely and the prop blades snapped right off in the process. It's a bone stock Stryker with under 10 flights. I'm shocked, as I've never had this happen so quickly. Replacements are cheap, but I think I may just email Horizon about this one. Attachments:

Wow Gabe, glad you got it down safely. I would contact Horizon and see if any others had that same problem. Sounds like a weak mount or possibly a defective one. Hope it goes more smoothly next flight. Keep it in the air.

I've had this issue with other Strykers but I always attested it to the upgraded motors. This is the first one that's blown out a stock motor.
Typically, the first upgrade I get is a new Stryker mount from customrcparts.com . Gary makes mounts that I use on my Darkside Strykers that have yet to fail me. My top speed is 136mph with about 1900 watts.
For now though, I just bought a new stock mount for $6.

You'll have that when push the envelope. More power means more beef. You sound a lot like me when I was younger, I remember my 1st planes, I had to always put the bigger motor than it called for in. The way I looked at it was, if I had a choice, bigger was better . They sure would climb good.

Check out m Darkside thread under the airplane section. You may enjoy my build log and Kent's build with his Ultra Stupid Funjet

I agree, call horizon. They'll definitely replace it for your dad.
But, I'm sold on customrc mounts. Absolutely evey mount I have is customrc.
Unless a pilot is crashing real often, and tends to need a breakable mount, the aluminum ones are so much nicer and handle the torque without flexing like plastic does.
