I heard an interesting tip from a professional painter. He says if you paint in any enclosed environment where silicone spray has been used or Armor All has been used, you paint will fish eye or not stick at all. Apparently the vapor is enough. I think this explains an issue I had when painting an canopy sometime back. No matter what I did, everything looked like crap (more so than usual ) I use silicone spray lube all the time. This painter was telling me when one painter wants to mess with another, he can spray a rag with Armor All or Silicone and put the rag in the paint booth. Everything will look like crap until rag is removed. Has anyone else heard that? Moral of the story: spray in a relatively clean environment away from your usual garage stuff.

I just did a little searching and came up with a few posts in some car paint forums that talked about Armor All. Nothing about the rag, but sure enough some posted about the fact that the paint will never stick if Armor All gets on the base coat. Interesting stuff. Good tip.

I was painting a car one time in a buddy's paint booth I was on the last coat when one of his employees come in to clean out his truck he pushed down on the Armour all, plunger just a little when he heard me say son of a Bi#@* the whole car went into fish eye from just what the compressor picked up. After that the only thing you can do is add a couple drops of fish eye remover (silicone) to the paint and make it all silicone but it looses some gloss.. Ray
