I was a bit aghast when I got that email today. If I had any doubt that "Cheap" is King at HK they laid that doubt to rest this morning. Not only are they admittedly selling a sub standard, potentially hazardous short lifespan lipo, THEY ACTUALLY SOUNDED QUITE PROUD OF IT. Jeez ;D

OMG! Are they serious!? That's basically marketing a ticking time bomb on a flying projectile!
Idiots!

I thought it was pretty funny too. Im really surprised about this especially after the incident of not shipping anymore lipos by air I think?
By the time the slow boat from overseas gets to the US the lipos will have already puffed and caught on fire. One things for sure HK is trying to make as much profit as possible by selling rejects that arent good enough to sell as new lipos.
Wonder if theyll start selling C grade lipos anytime soon? Lipos that have already puffed but should still be good for 10 uses or so. Or D grade lipos that have already blown? lol

Not so idiotic as you may think. With all the LiPo's these guys sell, there has to be a large number of rejects, either from the production line or warranty returns. How better to get rid of them than by enticing buyers with cheap prices?
I bet they are selling these substandards like hotcakes since many buy on price rather than quality. Better for HK than chucking them in the trash.
How many components have we all bought from various dealers over the years that haven't been up to par? And we paid top dollar for crap that was advertised as quality merchandise.
At least HK is upfront about it all. Smart business, IMO.

I don't think the prices are all that great for the risk involved. How do you put a price on peace of mind? $15 plus shipping for a lipo that's only going to last 60 cycles and will probably puff? No thanks. I've had many cycles out of my hyperion's, stored them for months... and then, after a recharge, used them with no problems. Hundreds of cycles later they're still going. I wouldn't use a "B" grade lipo as a rx pack.
A few things are certain... people will buy these, not have any trouble, and swear by them. Some newbie's going to start his/her house/apartment on fire. I do think people who enjoy their investments will pass on these.

I only pay 18 dollars for my good ones, why would I pay 15 dollars for bad ones. Just don't make sense to me. But you have to admit there being honest but still over charging for them.
Maybe for 5 dollars I might take a chance and use them for 30 flights and throw them away before they do puff.

I could not sleep with one of those just setting in my house but a $1.49 servo can set there as long as it wants.. Ray

I would guess that just sitting there would be the optimum use of that servo. I can't imagine putting it in a plane or heli. Maybe I'm just too conservative. ;D

Honestly, for the amount of time and money we spend building kits and foamies, it would a shame to lose a plane in mid flight. It's more of a safety issue for me. Some one could get seriously hurt.
