Well, I finally caved and brought both heli's into the shop to have my buddy work on them - and yes, I'm paying him. The tail got mushy on the 500 after my first test flight and the gyro shuttered pretty hard on flips. On a side note, I re-aligned the swash from the ground up and the collective is awesome! Pops hard!
The 450 I just can't get the rudder right. It drifts right and is mushy. I have no idea why.
So yeah, I caved. Don't hate me, but I just want to bang around the heli's without any worries.

What you are doing sounds like common sense to me. I go down to Steven's Aero (the balsa plane maker) to see a guy named Jeff about once a week with my list of questions and though I fear I might someday drive him crazy, I have never been able to stump him with a question about planks or helis yet. He is a great source of info to keep me going in this hobby. Don't hesitate to seek help wherever you can find it, and whenever you need it.

+1 to that scar. You can bet your buddy Jeff didn't learn everything he knows all by himself either. Mentoring is one the the great things we have in this hobby that's hard to find in other pursuits.

You never want to stop learning. If you get hung up on a problem, seek help so you can get moving forward again. There is an amazing amount of knowledge to absorb in the RC hobby, much more than I was aware of when I started out.

Man, another reason I wish we lived closer, Gabe!
Please keep us posted on the repairs. Kent
