uh.... haaayyellllllll no. But.... I am thinking of switching to Futaba. They are coming out with some pretty nifty stuff. The 8FG is going to be 14 channels! ; "S" cable rx... takes up to 14 channels down to one cable; their flybarless system sounds sweet.... I just have a ton of spektrum stuff, and I'm in the middle of two projects (Hirobo and Frenzy). The frenzy still needs a some work... but it's very flyable. I'm just not happy with my servo wheels. I just put a new engine in the Hirobo, and I'm seriously unhappy with it's servos.
I hate helis.

No kidding? Planks are less stress? Doozer hates helis? Why? ;D A guy with an SR had the heli about a year and hadn't been able to fly it more than a few minutes. He was frustrated. Decided to buy the DDVP tail and had some issues getting it setup and damaged it. He asked for some help. After I replaced the DDVP, the SR took off great, had a solid tail, but after being in the air about 20 seconds it crashed because the swash seperated. So I ended up rebuilding it for him with a micro heli cnc swash, new blades, some links, etc. The whole process took about a year to get the heli to a point it was flyable, it crashed immediately from a parts failure and it took another hour and a half to fix it. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Go out and buy yourself a nice little electric plane Dooz. The next time you get frustrated working on your heli, put the tools down, grab your plane and fly it around for a bit. You'll be surprised at how much fun you'll have.

Seriously (not really), I could see myself with a glider. Catching thermals sounds like fun. But the plank pricks here in Phoenix hate those too. Maybe that's why I like them. Maybe its not the planks I don't like, rather the people here in Phoenix that fly them.
There's a fine line between love and hate. I really love helis but hate the addiction to them. I've spent a ton of money on them and there's no end in sight. I was trying to say, not so gracefully, that I want to make a radio change, but I'm in the middle of feeding my addiction. So now may not be the best time. It's like "The Little Shop of Horrors," heli edition.

I think it's time for you to take a break. It sounds like the heli addiction has become a compulsion. Buy a Parkzone Radian Powered Glider; you'll love it. Fly it someplace that is in a Jerk Free Zone. In my neck of the woods the heli pilots have the plane pilots out numbered by a fair margin on the Jerk O' Meter scale. But it really doesn't matter; there are nice guys on both sides and a lot of guys like me who enjoy both forms of Aircraft RC. I'm sure the case is the same there; you just haven't run into the right people yet. Anyway, it's not about them it's about you. Screw the jerks and have fun no matter what you're flying secure.hobbyzone.com/PKZ5480.html

Doozer,
That was the point that I bought my first plank. I love heli's, but the maintenance and repair and cost is so frustrating. I had to change an aileron on my lightweight Stryker yesterday, it took 10 min and a little CA glue. That's the equivalent of realigning the swash from the bottom up.
There's plenty of fun in planks. My Darkside Stryker was clocked at 136 mph - and I haven't even used the right batteries to reach it's full potential.
Most of the Parkzone planes you can land on a small soccer field, so you don't have to fly with jerks.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Plus, you've got a bunch of plankers here to help you!
