My kids got me these for my birthday. $80 bucks for both (with free replacement for two years). I'm going to order up some paint tonight.

That's a little nicer brush than I bought at HF, but mine seems to be working fine with the compressor I also bought there. Look forward to seeing some of your work with the new equipment.

Yep, My three son's and my daughter took me to harbor freight and said "Pick out what you want." It was very cool. I saw the less expensive airbrush and thought about it, actually had it in my hand and my son comes up and says "what about this one, it's only a few bucks more?"
I didn't order any paint last night, I went to bed early. I think I'm going to go to Michael's (craft store) or the girlie Hobby Lobby here in town. Before I put a drop of paint through it, I want to be sure of what I'm doing.
Time to have some fun!

May have to look at one myself, have a little christmas money in the wallet And give us a paint report, knowing you it will be on several brands which will be good. Dave

I used the Michael's Craftsmart acrylic on my Fury wing. It worked great.

Bought 3 types of paint on my lunchbreak, Apple Barrel, Craftsmart, and Creatix (spelled wrong i think, got it by the airbrushes at Michaels). The creatix is ready to roll but the Apple Barrel and Craftsmart need to be thinned. What should I use? They're water based so i was thinking water. Any ideas?

I played a little bit but with water. I got the stream down sort of. I was spraying some paper. I also picked up some stencils because I liked the lines. I'm going to really get into this I think. I've already read a bunch, and watched a bunch of vids a airbrushtricks.com
I also read many times that Apple Barrel, Craftsmart, and other cheaper brand acrylics should be reduced with Windex or windshield washer fluid, because of some scientific sh!t that made my brain hurt to read. Some sort of chemical reaction with two types of lipids that causes the paint to reduce evenly. I probably just butchered that explanation, but I swear that's how I understood it. Gotta love the internet.
EDIT: oh by the way, the airbrush really cleans the dust off the keyboard well

I just used water with the Craftsmart thinned to a milk like consistency. Come to think of it, I recall people using windex as a thinner. I think your explanation makes sense. I guess Ill give that a shot too.

Was reading this thread over @ R/C groups: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670524 I also searched some last night. Most people use Windex with this paint. If you do end up using windshield washing fluid, make sure it doesn't have Rain-X in it.

Just an update:
Went back and got another airbrush. The airbrush had 4.5 stars out of five stars. Bang for the buck was the main theme of those that gave it 5 out of 5. Normally I'd be a little skeptical, but there were other guns and brushes that didn't fair so well. I thought it might be a good idea to jump on another one as a spare. I also bought a gravity fed HVLP Gun for $15. It had 4 stars. Got the spray gun so I can clear coat. It also will lay down primer. I bought a few more paint jars, and a different hose.
Every free minute at work today I was reading airbrush information and watching videos. Make sure whatever glass cleaner you buy to reduce paint, has no Ammonia. Ammonia will eat away at any brass in your gun or brush. I'm going to link some cleaning videos in the sticky.
