Incase your wondering Dave no it wasnt anything to do with barbecue. I took my stampede for a spin the other day. After about 20 minutes there was a big spark in the brushed motor and the motor stopped and it started smokin, and it started smelling like the oh sheeeit smell. Checked the temperature and it was above 200*F . It got so hot that one of the solder tabs on the motor came off. Now I wonder how come it got so hot my gear mesh wasnt too tight. It might of been because I ran it in the snow this winter. Well today I disassembled it and the comms toast. I put a new comm in it and reassembled it now it works half the time, I think there might be a loose connection. Oh well Im getting tired of using brushed motors. Having to cut the comm every few times I run it and replacing brushes is becoming annoying. That and the speed is terrible compared to brushless. Im looking at getting the Castle Creations Sidewinder v2 with 4600kv brushless motor for $100 and doubling my speed. Either I buy a new brushed motor for $25 or spend the 100 and go brushless.

Once the motor gets that hot it's going to be unreliable at best. It's a big $ jump getting into brushless, but just like your planes; you're going to like it a lot better.

Yeah I know once I go brushless I will like it alot, my stampede is my favorite out of the fleet but one of the slowest. But Im not for sure if I should buy it after looking at my finances this morning.
