Yep I've started playing with fire on paper. I'll post some pics when I think I'm starting to get it. I'm practicing "True Fire" flames and learning to use stencils. So far I'm pretty happy with my progress, but still not anything I'd feel like sharing at this point. I've learned to make my own stencils cheap so I think I'm going to get a stencil cutter. You can download some free stencil templates from here: www.chuckbauman.com/true-fire-stencils-templates-pics.htm I just saved them to my computer then printed them out. The cool thing about these are that you get two stencils out of each one. I found some clear plastic notebook section dividers my son had lying around, and I traced the paper template on to the plastic. I cut it out with an X-acto and ended up with the inside and outside. Each can be used to make flames.

Your going to pee the bed Doozer playing with fire. . Nah but seriously thats cool, I think its time to fire up my Eastwood airbrush, I never really got the hang of using it. That and it seemed like it took forever to clean it. I would love to be able to paint a rc car body that is more than 2 colors.

I just thought it was because Dave was old that he pees the bed. Ya hear that Dave, you have to stop grillin'. The clean up is pretty easy if you stick with water based acrylics. I'm having a blast.

Thanks Doozer, the clean up would of been alot easier if Id known that enamel paint doesnt mix with water at the time. Back then I didnt know alot about the different types of model paint. After I used enamel paint in the airbrush I used it with a good ol paint brush and realized why it was so hard to clean the airbrush. Now I stick to acrylic paint. However you can use paint thinner to clean enamel paint.

Speaking of reducers... I've found that reducing the cheap acrylics with Windex has better results than reducing with water. Colors seem brighter, and the gun seems to clog less with Windex. Just make sure it's ammonia free. The paints just rinse off the gun with water.
