I tried downloading the Fms simulator on to my Netbook that has Windows 7 on it but cant get it to work. It keeps saying that D3DRM.DLL is not loaded after I try opening FMS. Ive been doing a bunch of research and I have to download the file D3DRM.DLL but for some reason I cant get it to work after I download it. Has anyone else had any success at downloading FMS and getting it to work with Windows 7 or Vista. It only has this problem on 7 and Vista.

does your netbook have win7 premium or starter? cause starter is a barebones win7 they put on netbooks even tho i run home premium on mine. this could be the issue, i will do some research tonight and post my finding for ya but i am guessing that dll file has to access something in windows that you might be missing if your running starter. have you tried to run as admin? or install as admin? maybe that dll file needs to be put in a specific folder with admin rights. thats all i can think of off the top of my head get back to ya later. actually you may not get it ot work right on your netbook as they have no video card and the dll is in reference to later video cards that win7 does not install any longer. however here is the location and directions on how to get teh dll where ya need it. www.microflight.com/s.nl/ctype.KB/it.I/id.1390/KB.1034/.f

Thanks Coffin. My situation on the problem I think is special, because this isnt my netbook. My high school gave all the juniors netbooks this year for academic purposes, but they said that we can download anything we want on it. They said that at the end of the year when we turn them back in there just going to wipe them clean. So I figured I would download fms so I could play at school. This netbook is the starters version, and Im not the admin of the netbook and I dont think I can be. I kinda gave up on downloading it anyway. If I remember right when I tried to download the dll file it said that I didnt have admin permission to do it and I cant get permission. I spent a long time reading up on the problem and trying different things but nothing worked. I downloaded it on my windows 7 home desktop and got it to work but the graphics card was messed up. To where there wasnt any texture, the simulator still serves its purpose though and the planes and helis still fly. I dug out my old windows 98 brick I mean desktop to try and get it to work but I think its past its prime.

I tried it out and it works like a charm, and I like how the helicopter flys alot better and more realistic in helisimrc. And you can adjust the wind gusts, gyro, pitch and throttle curves. I think this simulator will help me with progressing my skills alot more then fms ever did. The only negative though is that you cant use the keyboard keys, so I wont be able to play it at school, Id look a little funny carring a tx everywhere I go.
