Let me ask this: I know what HH does, but could someone tell me as simply as possible, what rate mode does verses HH when you are actually flying?
Would I notice a difference between the two when I'm flying. And if I was to run rate mode what would be the plus and minus?

Turnigy 2 in 1 Professional Program Box for Brushless ESC.
This was the only one on HK that even said anything about platinum, would this be it? And if so, they are out of stock of coarse. Have to look on ebay.

Heading hold is exactly what it says. If you point the nose in a certain direction, a gyro on HH will attempt to keep it in that direction despite forces that try to knock it off that heading. Such as wind.
Rate mode will counter the torque tendencies fine but the heli will not keep a heading if the wind (or other force) pushes the tail. Some people rather fly in rate mode as they say the heli flies more naturally when banking/turning. You need better stick control when attempting to lift off and hover in rate mode. HH makes that maneuver easier.
Not sure if the HK Platinum programming card is compatible with both HK and HobbyWing ESC's. Never tried it. I bought the HobbyWing card just to be sure.

Thank you Solitaire for making it easy to understand. I'm not too technical minded, just mechanical.

Great I ordered the right one, I found one for 20.00. At least I will have one now that should take care of any ESC hopefully.
Well every thing is setup and ready for 1st flight. Waiting on batteries is all I have left and should be here any day now. The weather don't look good for about a week to fly. Monsoons have moved in.
Thanks all for the good advice. Hopefully this will be a fun heli to fly. I'm still amazed at the difference in size between the 450 and 500. I wouldn't have room for a 700. Would have to build an addition on.

Sorry guys. I'm in Europe for a week so my time on the board is spotty. Sounds like you have it worked out Shakey. Hope she flies well!

Hey enjoy your time in Europe. I'm jealous. Thanks Gabe.
Will let you know when 1st flight comes about. Should have ordered batteries from my usual vendor. Stupid Hobby King still has not shipped batteries and I ordered them from there US facility figuring I would get them faster, my bad. Called them tonight and they say they will put a rush on them, I ordered them on the 15th and said it might be 3 more days before they get shipped. Argh they may have good prices but speed is not there thing. Ridicules 10 days to get an order out of there warehouse. Last order took 21 days to get. Use them sparingly.

They do take some time, but you just can't beat their prices. In a rush, it kills the fun, but you'll be glad you bought them later on.

Yeah Shakey I did the same thing. Ordered a 2200 from HC on 4/9 and according to their tracking it's only left Austria. It does suck. If you need something quick you need to order from a USA dealer

I thought I did, I ordered it from the USA warehouse figuring it was already in the US. But I found out after calling them, it still takes 2 weeks to process the order lol. It's not the shipping that takes so long, it's the processing. Guess there little feet don't move as fast as ours does. Maybe they should invest in golf carts.

Yeah you have that right. I ordered a 2200 battery and a corona digital servo for the tail. They held up the order because the servo was out of stock. Finally I canceled the servo so they would ship the battery. I am having a problem with my H.W. ESC. I purchased a Hobby Wing program box, second one, and I hook it up and nothing. I have the 40 A Pentium ESC. I returned the first one I ordered because nothing happened when I hooked it up. Now this one is the same, no lights no anything. Let me know how you make out with the box you ordered. Mine was only like $9 and it's a Hobby Wing, so is the ESC you would think it would work. Oh well......ron

Well Ron, I am canceling my order with Hobby king. Just found out after waiting 15 days the batteries were back ordered for another 30 days. Them B.....ds didn't even let me know. They were in stock when I ordered them. Just talked to one of there people 3 days ago and he said they would put a rush on them. Now they say there back ordered. What a bunch of quacks!!!
I could have ordered them locally for a dollar more. Guess I might be the idiot. I am sick of them. If they give me any grief about refunding money, might have the BBB talk to them also. How does that country even function?

OK, I went ahead and hooked the 11.1V batteries of mine up to make the 22.2V for testing since it don't look like I will have any 6S batteries for some time.
I hooked up the heli tonight for a test run and this is what I get. After binding it, I get 6 straight beeps. Gabe says I should get 3 beeps, a bah, and then one more beep. I have not found the manual on the Turnigy ESC yet, so I have no clue to what is going on.
All servos seem to work fine, the gyro is working fine, RC is hooked up solid, But I have no motor!!!
Would someone that has some experience with Turnigy ESC's please see if you could help me out with this matter. I believe it is a 85A ESC. I double checked and all wires to motor seem to be right and hooked up. Still no motor.
