I have been flying the copterx rather frequently as it is a dream to fly well this morning I took her up and was doing a little hover about fifteen feet up about 2 minuets in the heli let out a crunch snap and a pop but it stayed flying so I landed it and looked couldn't find anything wrong ;D So I took it in the house and put my up close glasses on and what I found was the drive gear in the tail had about 6 teeth with the tips missing ;D the main auto gear is fine tho ;D so I go to change the drive gear and notice that the tail is really stiff on rotations so I figure the belt is too tight and it was with no way to adjust it other than shortening the boom I have a file but what I really found was the tail rotor shaft wont spin easy like it has a bind in it ;D So I precede to take tail apart and what I figured out is the align tail shaft that I have is a couple thousands wider than the copterx tail housing and also discovered the tail bearings have broken in the rotor housings So I have decided that the tight tail put too much torque on the drive gear and made the stripping of the gear happen ;D Well I had extra drive gear But I had to find some new bearings found some on the drive gear same size bearings will fit tail rotor shaft so lucked out there also when putting it back together I found that the tail rotor shaft gear is a little bit wider than the copterx And that is why the bearings went out which caused the drive gear to strip So I filed the hub down on the tail rotor shaft to get my clearance that I needed so that everything spins freely and I also filed down the end of the boom a couple thousandths so the belt would not be as tight as it was Now hopefully it will last a longer time than it did

Yup, Align tail shaft doesn't work with CopterX tail, I used washers to space out the bearing holders. The best upgrade I did to mine was the complete Align tail.

Dude that is one free wheeling heli Yes I am planning on getting the complete align tail for my heli but I have to Waite a little while as the shuttle parts were more money than I expected ;D After I worked the gear hub over it almost spins as much as yours does but not as many revolutions I am starting to like the 500 class heli's a lot

I love the 500 class. It's too bad they don't make that nitro conversion kit anymore. That Gaui 425 is the only electric I enjoy flying now, but I only have two packs for it. When I have an extra hand I still bring it to the field (if you can call a field with rocks, dirt and cactus a "field"). I could see a Toki 40 in a 500.

That is amazing Dude. I guess it pays to use better parts. I am lucky to get 4 or 5 spins out of mine. Looks like you have a great setup.
