What if you cut about a 1/2" off the end of each blade?? It would have to increase the headspeed to get the needed lift from a shorter blade.. This might be worth a try! Kent

Also, I noted that if you fly in say, 10mph winds, the heli is fairly stable. You can keep it in a small are very easily with the cyclic.
But the altitude is impossible to keep close, again because of the collective sluggishness. Man, if this thing had better collective, it would be just awesome! The way it is, it sucks.
Maybe we can figure this out. Bigger batteries, shorter main blades, more powerful main motor, and/or something else? I read on another forum where the main motor from a Novus would fit and is a bigger motor. I don't remember if it had any more power or not.
This thing needs brushless! That would be quite a job to figure out on this little thing... Kent

Brushless would help. Bigger battery. Shorter blades. Or, maybe a narrower blade too.

Brushless would help. Bigger battery. Shorter blades. Or, maybe a narrower blade too. Add that to the list! Man, it would be awesome to figure this out. I received my 'free' replacement servo yesterday. That was good. I also received a shipment notice for the new head. I wonder if the new head has a design that might make the collective work better, say, if the side load of the bearings in the head might be an issue?? I just now thought of that. Side loads on a ball bearing can induce drag, and if the servo is weak, maybe that could make it feel sluggish? Humm... Kent

Interesting thoughts kent. We'll have to check that new bearing out.

Well, I just received my new head from Horizon and the collective is MUCH BETTER!!! Pumps have far more pop! If you take the original head and pull out on the grips and twist, there is resistance. If you do that to the new head, it is very free! I love it!
So, if anyone wants one of these, only buy it if the grips have the letter 'B' on them.
I just flew another two batteries through mine in probably 5mph winds! I like it MUCH better!
Now to find some bigger batteries... Kent

I have been looking at this little machine I cannot see why you could not direct drive with a brushless motor on the main. I have not seen that done before.. Hey Kent do you happen to know the headspeed of this one and the main shaft dia. ? Ray

I don't know about direct drive....That would be interesting.
The rpm at mid stick, zero pitch, 100% throttle on mine is 4400 rpm. Once you lift off, it drops some.
The main shaft is a 3mm carbon fiber tube. Kent

Good news! HZ isn't selling any of the old ones. Only ones with the new head.

I think it's time to move this thread to the "Dedicated" section. Some good info here.

Very strange thing happened... I was flying the MCP-x on Sunday in maybe 10mph winds. I was just flying FFF and some mild aerobatics.
I did a stall turn and the thing started to piro at a million rpm! It was so fast that I couldn't even tell what direction it was spinning! The rudder stick had no effect, so all I could do is hit throttle hold.
I checked it all out and it had zero damage other than a missing link. I installed a new one and put another battery in.
IT FLEW FINE!!!
I wonder what happened?
Has anyone heard of anything like this happening?
Very weird. Kent

That is odd. Sounds like you had a loss of power to the tail. Might be a short or a loose or broken wire with intermittent contact.
