Ok so I went out to hover the 500 the other day spooled it up and it did an immediate back flip into the dirt I go wtf ;D So I figure dumb thumb attack I order all the repaire parts put them in recheck everything in the head check all servo movements all is fine take the heli out to the pad and start to spool the heli up and its all I can do to keep it from back flipping again ;D So I take everything out of the frame cant find anything wrong ;D So I figure that something is up with the ds510m servo when it is under torque from the head so I order a new one and waite for it to come in the mail Well it came today so I put this servo in put the heli back together took it outside and spooled the heli up darn thing worked like a champ so a closer look at the servo I took out with a magnifying glass also I discover some thin cuts in the insulation on the wire that carries the signal where it went into the cf frame I have a feeling that the servos signal was being interupted by the cf frame So I took some wire shielding and covered the new servo leads where they went through the cf frame I am hoping that this will cure the servo woes and not crash the 500 again Any thoughts on this potential problem

It's possible that when bare wires are exposed, there more susceptible to interference. I would not think that would be the case since they are not shielded to begin with, but possible. I have also noticed little cuts in some of my servo wires from the frame, so I have started adding tape, or light sanding the edges, to the areas that wires pass through. The only thing is that once your wires are exposed, you really have no idea how many wires have been cut also. It's possible that only a couple wires had not been cut and that may have a big effect on the operation.
Also I believe someone on here, maybe Doozer, had made a good point and added a little glue or epoxy on the edges were wires go through. This seems like a very good and easy quick fix.
That's what is nice about this forum, you pick up many little tricks other guys have learned. Glad you found the problem right away Phil! I really think I might just start adding the epoxy to my edges since it only takes a couple of minutes to dry. A very simple solution. I also try to never pull wire tight were they do go through the frame.

Did you test the old servo? Does it go through its full travel? I had an elevator servo fail on mine and it did what you described.

Yes Dude I think I tested it the best that I could and it seemed to move all the way each way and I couldn't stop it by holding the arm but when it was in the heli and the rotors turned up it wouldn't work letting the swash plate go full reverse cyclic. But the new one keeps up I am going to replace the wire and retest the servo Might have to buy a servo tester

Actually, now that I have thought about it, my servo that failed wouldn't stop giving back elevator, effer back flipped before leaving the ground.
