I switched from Pennzoil Marine 2cycle full synthetic to Royal Purple 2 cycle synthetic. Quieted the engine down and dropped the heat. I noticed far less vibrations at Idle as well. I'm running it @ 25:1 (5oz to a gallon) .... which is a lot for a synthetic, but the engine really sounds smooth.
I still have about a half gallon break in left, but I've hit a huge snag. There's a rather big flat spot from low stick to mid stick. Luckily it really only happens on spool up, but it seems like the stock carb (Walbro 603) is not the greatest for r/c use. It's good if you're going to be putting this in a goped it's fine but not a heli. This is a well known issue, I've even read about it, but it hadn't happened to me until tonight. I went ahead and bought a new carb that has a pump in it to resolve this issue (Walbro 813).
There are other sort of necessary modifications to stop air leaks, but there is a major air leak issue with the carb insulators warping do to over tightening. Even from the factory. So I bought a Z-RC billet insulator with Teflon gaskets. It seems the the stock insulator also is too narrow, and because of the air leaks, the needle settings seem to fluctuate. With the new insulator, this issue is resolved. Air leaks from the stock can muffler can happen as well. I went ahead a RTV'd the exhaust manifold.
As soon as the parts get here, I'm going to add the mods to the gasser build. It seems these mods are relatively important and worth reopening that thread.
