Wow!
I had the most fun ever tonight! There are several of us who fly 3d foamies and we started to get together on Sunday afternoon for 'Foamie Time'!
'Foamie Time' is when all of us (anywhere from 3 to as many as who show up) throw our foamies up in the air at the same time. It's wild as we are all 'right there'! We generally are breaking a minimum of half dozen club rules! The safety officer leaves before we do this! Luckily, the club president and one of the VP's is right in there with us!
SHHHH!
We have mid-airs regularly, but most are easily fixable. There is always a generator running with a hot glue gun! And there are plenty of tubes of Welder glue there!
I only brought my SU-29 today.
Tonight's 'Foamie Time' highlight was to try to knock over a small camera placed in the middle of the runway on a tiny tripod, with only your rudder! You could not fly fast at it, you had to either hover into it or high alpha into it! It was too windy for accurate hovering, so high alpha it was!
I was the only one to knock it over with the rudder of my SU-29! This was after two crashes with attempts that ripped one of the elevator hinges out, tore up the plywood motor mount and halfway ripped out one of the ailerons! I was STILL FLYING IT that way!! No time to fix it!
Later on, we put the camera on a table that was about 3 feet square and 3 feet high. Noone could hit that right. I smacked my SU-29 into the table a few times until the last hit. I gave it some throttle and the motor came completely out of the airframe!!!
All I could do is laugh my rear end off so hard that I fell to my knees!!!! That was the last thing I expected to see, the motor just heaving out of the plane!
Everyone crashed at least once tonight!
I'm still laughing as I type this! I know it's hard to visualize this much fun (carnage!?!)!
A couple of guys were videoing the whole thing and they promised to send me the youtube links...AWESOME!!! I'll post the links. None of you know where this took place!! You can't know! Please?
