Wow: www.bananahobby.com/2162.htmlIf it wasn't for the fact you need 9 channels to run this puppy, I'd buy her right now. I'm debating on whether or not I can eliminate the need for two of the channels by not using the canopy servo and the wing servos. I may be able to eliminate the need for a channel by using on mixers in-line (on board) as well. It's a delta configuration so it may be doable. I'm gonna send an email and see if I get a response.

That's one gorgeous model.
It'll be interesting to hear their reply. You should talk to Pete to get a straight answer. Maybe check the forums too. It sounds like it will work though; eliminating the folding wings and canopy.
1&2) Elevon mix 3) Rudder 4) TV (Aux1) 5) Retracts 6) Throttle 7) airbrake/Flaps
And one very stout BEC.

They offer a $50 transmitter for purchase but I don't know if I would trust that thing.

I don't know. Lets face it. It's always a crap shoot with BH. With that kind of investment in the plane I might spring for the Tx too. At least that way you'd get all of the planes functions. I'd range test it and if it works, it'll probably fly it OK.

Yeah, maybe you're right. I may do that.

This may be the way to go: www.bananahobby.com/2073.htmlIn the video, Pete says it can run on 7, 6, or even 5 channels. 5 with retracts, 6 with TV, and 7 with SMOKE! The reviews say the landing gear is fragile - which at this stage in flights we should be greasing landings on pavement anyways. I may try my hand at this one. Also, it's a twin 70mm. They also have a mig for 19K!

Where are the spare parts for these? I didn't find any on the BH site...
I won't buy anything this expensive if you can't get parts... Kent

Ah yes - I came across that as well. That's on my list of items to ask Pete. I'll post on RC Groups (shhhhhhhh) in the thread to see if I can get a response.

Yeah, the have more parts than listed on the spare parts page too. You just need to email their parts dept.
Another mig. I have to have another 15. I think I'll wait to black friday and see what happens.

Just a thought or 2 Gabe. Before you pull the trigger on the BH F/A18, you might want to check out the HLI plane, if you haven't already. It's due to come back in stock soon. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the BH 18, but you can operate it on 5-7 channels. www.hobby-lobby.com/erc_f_a_18e_super_hornet_90mm_arf_jet_oversize_532911_prd1.htm HLI is a lot more customer friendly than BH if you have a problem.

Ooh nice plane as well. Not quite as big but I am enticed by the simple fact that it's not the crapshoot of BH. I think I'm leaning towards this model now.
Great find and thanks 19k!

You know, I've bought some stuff from BH that has worked out well, but I'd hesitate to buy anything complicated, because of the support issues. When you buy from them you have to pretty much be prepared to sort out any issues on your own.
I actually have the HLI F/A18 model. It's very nice. I am reserving it for a winter project. It's got good reviews and there's an extensive thread at RCGroups about it.

And now Nitroplanes has one, too! www.nitroplanes.com/69a918-90mm-f18-grey-arf.htmlIt has thrust vectoring and a 90mm fan. Cool! Several folks lately have come to the field with Nitroplanes stuff. All of the planes fly well. No obvious problems with any of them. These have been mostly WWII fighters and a couple of EDF's. All good! I have never bought a plane from them, but I have bought some EXI digital metal geared servos. I am running four of the D-226F's in my 2kv 60" Great Planes Revolver. They are quiet, VERY strong (way overkill at 180 oz/in!!) and center perfectly. I also have some smaller ones that I have not put in anything yet. Kent
