Little update I was flying it around and it started making a weird noise So I landed it and checked it over and decided that the tail drive gear was starting to strip out again. So I parked it been a couple weeks now. Well yesterday went to the Hobby shop and picked up a new gear for it and new main bearings and a new auto rotation gear new foam tape for the gyro. also picked up some bearing glue for the bearings. So today I started installing the new parts. Well I decided to open up the mounting holes in the frame for the boom block to move the gears closer together to see if they don't last longer . Well after getting this done and everything put back together I have found the heli to be a lot quieter when turning the rotor head by hand and with power. So tomorrow will take her outside and put her into the air and see if she flies any better Now hope the weather holds out .

Well went out and flew a battery pack threw the heli this morning. And It was a successful mod and flight. The gear sound is very minimal and the heli took for ever to quit spooling down. Now to see how long it lasts .

Ya know, that's the whole reason I went to belts- but all the pros use tubes. So weird. Now the belts just wear out on me - LOL!

After I upgraded my CopterX 500 to an all Align tail (pod side, not tail rotor side) I didn't have any gear stripping issues. The tt vs belt issue... My Trex 600 has a tt and my Raptor 50 has a belt, performance really isn't any different, at least what I can tell.

Good to know. I've definitely encountered some belt slips before. Not a big fan.

There probably is a difference when doing hard 3d, I fly my heli's like airplanes, so it really doesn't matter.

It's all good info I have one heli with tt and the rest have belts and I really can't tell the difference in them.

All of my helis have belts now, with silicon spray. They are cheaper than TT!
I had an Align TT for my 500. I barely touched the ground with it and it came apart. Back to belt.
Like some of you said, I can't tell the difference. But I don't do serious 3d. Only a few flips, loops and rolls. Kent

What's the silicon spray for, Kent?

Keeps static from building up and glitching your electronics.

The silicon spray also greatly reduces friction! Kent
