Well guys I added another helicopter to the fleet. A belt Cp v1. My aunts friend gave it to me at Thanksgiving dinner. He bought it a while ago from Nitroplanes (of all places). And he never was able to get it to fly right. He never had a heli before and couldnt figure out the problem. He watched the video of it online and thought it looked easy enough.
So he bought it and when he got it and plugged it in, it had bad glitches and started up by it self and cut his hand. He tried flying it a couple of times but it always got glitches and crashed. He sent an email to nitroplanes and told them about it and of course never got a response. He replaced the gyro and alot of other parts but it never solved the problem.
So he put it away and just a few months ago learned that I was into rc stuff so he brought it with him today and gave it to me for free. He said that I can do what I want with it and that he would like to see it fly someday. I flew my Exi 450 for him to show him what their capable of, he was pretty amazed.
Anyway tonight I started working on it and it does have problems. When I plug the battery in, the servos move all around and they never respond to any input. I think its an esc or radio problem, I plugged in my old g2's radio to the esc and servos but didnt get any response. I also tried the belt cp radio with my exi esc but it needs to be recalibrated for that radio.
Anywho Ill probably buy an esc, spektrum receiver, and gyro for it cause it has one of the esc's that are known to catch on fire. I also dont like FM radios and rate gyros are ancient. But it looks brand new other than a few scuffs on the blades. I think this will be a great helicopter to try new things with so I can keep my Exi 450 looking nice. And I can always have a 450 in the air. Im excited, its like Christmas came early.
I just plugged in the belt cp esc to my exi 450 and it works so that pin points that its the radio system.

there's nothing easier to fly than something that costs you nothing! Zero pressure. Nice pick-up. I've got some v1 belt parts... belts, booms, skids, frame, tail.... I even have some of the old esky servos somewhere. I'll fish around this weekend and see what I have. I'm not gonna use them.

Nothing really wrong with the Belt CP. Just not a direct servo linkage to the swash like a Trex and pretty well all plastic parts. But they fly. Oh, and the radio is a PITA.
I thought for sure you'd get a "don't use the stock Esky ESC" from Doozer. Baaaad memories there, eh Dooz?

Thanks guys! Yeah the stock tx I already ditched, it doesnt work. I hooked up my dx6i and 2 servos dont work. So the things that Ill probably replace is the esc, 2 servos, gyro and get a spektrum receiver. I remember Doozers experience with his belt esc werent very pleasant.
What exactly was wrong with the esky esc? Was it didnt have enough amps being a 25 amp esc or does it just malfunction and catch fire. I need an esc for my small dollar tree foamies.

yeah man. As a matter of fact I just threw away all of that fire damage. I don't know why I kept the burnt out ESC, but it was in one of my drawers. I wasn't the only one having issues, there were others. Do you need an ESC? I wouldn't use the stock one.

The esc works but Im not going to use it on the belt cp, do you know if the reason they catch fire because they dont have enough amps or does it malfunction? Ill probably buy an Exceed Rc 30 amp esc thats what I use in my Exi 450 and Super Cub.

I think the BEC is underamped, basher. The Belt CP uses 4 Esky 0508 digital servos and I think they just overload the BEC. But that's just a guess.
I use an old Esky ESC for power when I bind Rx's and setup servos (one at a time) and it works ok for that. I took it out of my Belt just after Doozer had his light up and won't consider putting it back into anything that flies. Just not worth the risk.

Congrats on your CP r/c!
Yep I had 2 of those babies and the ESC's dumped on both. And, the radio, don't get me started. sounds like you've got it under control now. Once you make those fixes you'll have a decent heli.

Well I just got done ordering everything that I think I need besides a receiver from xheli/hobbypartz thanks to their black friday sale. I got 4 exi s1123 servos for free for the belt, a $9 detrum gy48v gyro, a 30 amp exceed rc esc and free shipping from xheli. And some main blades for $3 cause the ones that are on it are damaged. Im a happy camper.
Now I got to head back on over there before they give more free stuff away. I havent eaten since this morning, I got home from work jumped in the shower and been on here ever since, I didnt even bother to go fly.

Well I got the servos today that I need, now just waiting on the gyro and esc which should come tomorrow.
Do you guys think the belt cp esc would work in a plane? My scratchbuilt foamies esc took a poo and am in need of one.

It should work fine on your little foamies...It may need to be reprogrammed though. I would plug it in and see what happens.

Well Ill probably wont have too, I ordered a new motor and plugged it into my old esc and it worked fine. So I guess it was the motor the whole time. Even though it worked when I switched to a different esc.

That's unusual for the motor to go bad. You might want to check the connetors. More often the cause than anything else.

That's unusual for the motor to go bad. You might want to check the connetors. More often the cause than anything else. On the one esc the motor would work ok for a few minutes then eventually in mid flight it would lose all power until I throttled down and then it would work again, it wasnt the LVC either sometimes it would do it in the beginning of the flight. On the other esc it acted like one wire was making a connection. I was tired of fiddeling with it so I just bought a new one for $15 and be done with the problem.
