I had my first brown out today, I was flying my Exi 450 doing some FFF, when all of a sudden the motor quit and I lost control. It piro'd a few times and then after a half second I was finally able to regain control. Talk about scaring the sh!t out of me. I immediately landed and saw that the light was blinking on the receiver. Luckily I was high enough to where I didnt crash.
Does anyone know what causes brownouts? I did a little research and one thing that can cause it is a dip in voltage to receiver. Does anyone know of anything else?
My setup for the Exi 450 is as follows- AR6110e receiver Exceed 30 amp esc Exceed 400 motor Exceed gyro Exi D213F Digital servos all the way around
Could using 4 digital servos with out an external BEC cause the brown out?

It is the 30 amp ESC I would go to a 40 which has one more amp on the bec or go to a external BEC. The 30 amp only has a 2 amp Bec and the linear ones drop from there. A digital servo draws the same current whether they are active or setting idle. 2 Amps is not enough anymore.. Ray

Yes, it's low amps to the Rx. It's difficult to always pinpoint the reason, but it is commonly attributed to the servos drawing too much current at a particular moment or even the motor or a faulty ESC.
Bumping up your ESC, to say like a 40, as Ray suggested, and/ or adding a 3-5A BEC usually solves the issue.

Thanks guys, with a BEC do you need a seperate battery for the rx? If I have standard, non digital servos would I be ok with a 30 amp esc? Im going to be using a similar setup on my belt cp.
To bad I didnt know about this before, because I just bought my 3rd 30 amp esc a week ago.

No just remove the center wire from your esc that plugs into the RX then tie the BEC into your present battery power source and plug it into the battery port on the RX thats it!! Ray
