Well I went and did it now. I brought the telemaster down and put it on the work bench . For a cleaning it was badly needed haven't touched her in 10 years. found the engine stuck which didn't surprise me any. So I took the motor out and went to disassemble the motor for a thorough cleaning. That's when all the problems stated . It seems that no matter what I did I couldn't get the piston and rod loose from the crank lots of cleaner and lube and wiggling wasn't making it come out . Finally with a lot of effort it came and what I have discovered is that the wrist pin is stuck on the rod I soaked and heated and soaked and heated the piston and rod for hrs and did not have any joy getting this apart or loosened up Used a pin punch to take them apart but it messed up the wrist pin and piston. So I had to order a new piston, rod and wrist pin except nobody has one So now I am thinking the telemaster is back to shelf Queen again Just thought I would share

Yep, that's frustrating. I hear that all the time from guys who stored their engines for a long time.
Why not convert it to electric? You'll get the same, or better, performance with no storage issues. A lot of guys are doing that these days.

You want to upgrade to a .46 Phil? I've got one I was going to use in a project but went another direction. It's one of HobbyKing's and never been run. $40 plus whatever shipping is from BC to AK. Muffler included.

With old nitro motors, I know a little now.
I found a Webra 61, and two K&B 40's in my attic when I got back into RC.
These were all flown in the early 80's and had sat in boxes in the attic since.
These were all locked up tight! One of the K&B's was black with crap on it. It had a million hours on it back then.
Well, I read some threads here and there about how to get these loosened up. I decided to steal my wife's crock pot and try the anti-freeze route. Well, I turned the crock pot on medium high and threw the black K&B in there. After about 10 hours, I fished it out. Holy crap! It looked like new! I turned it over a few times by hand and it turned over and had compression! I then drained everything out of it and oiled it up. Well, it now feels like it is new!
I did the same with the Webra and the other K&B 40. These were far less gross. After about 5 hours in the anti-freeze, they are the same. They look new and turn over like new.
I was shocked. ==== BUT, there is something MUCH BETTER! I can't remember the name of it, but there is a penetrating oil that you soak the engine in, without any heat. You just submerge the engine in the stuff and wait a few hours. It not only comes out clean as new, it turns over like new! It is a lubricant as well, so you don't have the anti-freeze residue to rinse clean.
I can't think of the name of that stuff. I'll have to find it again and post it. It really is magic. I wish I would have known about it when I used anti-freeze on my engines. Kent

I have a couple more that I need to clean and I think that I will take these and put them in a bucket of 325 solvent for a couple days and see if that don't break them loose with out damage.
Akent if you remember what that is let me know

Glad it made it before Christmas. Never know with Canada Post. Hope it works out for you, Phil. Reviews were quite favourable on that one.
