circut board came from goodluckbuy in china Yeah the kk board that HK sells is pretty close to plug and play but you still have to do some adjusting This free flight board is ap friendly with auto stabilization and servo connections for panning and tilting the camera I am thinking at this point I need to opt for bigger motors as I can't get it off the ground at this point LOL bigger is always better right

What is the KV of your motors and what are there weight?? Dumb Question > Did you set the throttle points to get the full RPM???

they are 1000 kv motors Yes did set esc to the tx the all up weight of the quad is 2.75 lbs But I am going to try setting throttle range in ff board today instead of tx I Read a thread on how the ff board doesn't give you all the throttle that is necessary for flight and you have to program the esc's to the board I did find a thread on how to do this but need to go to hobby shop for parts Never thought I would need jst connectors again LOL
Seems I have to power the board and not the esc'c and open the the setup app on the computer and set the motor tests to wide open throttle and then plug the esc's power in and then I should get the throttle programming beeps and then close the throttle in the test app and then the throttle's should be set or calibrated to the board
And if that doesn't work then I did find a place called jdrones that will sell me a matched motor and prop set for this quad bigger motor 850 kv and a set of 10x4.5 props they had esc" also but they are only 20 amp unit's and I have 30 amp units already

AK, I think you might either want to try 4s batteries, or go up with your props.
On 1000kv motors and 3s, I am usually running 12x6 or 11x7 / 11x8 props.
You might want to try a GWS 10x6 or better.
It would be good to put a power meter on the motors.
Just some ideas... Kent

I thought about 4s but the ff board is 3s maximum So I did reflash the esc's to ff board Well it was better managed to get airborn 6 inches so now am waiting for the new motors and props to get here Might see if I can find some 10 6 props in the mean time. Do you think that if I moved my end points to 120 might work better ?

Isn't the board powered by the ESC's and if so that would only be 5v which would not make any difference if you went to a 4 cell the esc regulator should bring it down or am I missing something here.. actually the board is not powered by the esc's The quad flight board is powered by a distribution board and that board plugs into the battery as well as the esc's plug into the distribution board
In the picture at the beginning of the post the one with all the wires coming out of the board is the power distribution board setup
So if you hook up a 4s battery you have to much voltage for the flight control board

Well Phil that sucks I just noticed the HK board was powered by 5v that's why I wondered about yours.. thanks for the clarification.. Ray

But the 4s is kinda intriguing wonder if a guy could power the board with a 3s 800 mah bat separately and then run the motors on 4s

Ok a little update The motors that are on the quad are to small and they are only good for 3s battery but after researching most all day it looks like I can run the ff board on 4s battery. So now I am back to waiting for the new motors to come from over the pond as they will run on 4s and the props are matched to the motors so that will help.

Any of those brushless motors will run 4 cells even if they are not listed for that as voltage goes up the amps goes down which is the real killer of the motors. I have run and am still running 2 cell motors on threes with no failers,, Ray

That's true most of the time, but some cheaper motors can't handle the rpm from 4S.

Here is the specs on these motors do you think that they would run on 4s
- Mode:XXD A2212 - KV:1000 - Max Efficiency: 80% - Max Efficiency Current: 4-10A (>75%) - Current Capacity: 12A/60s - No Load Current @ 10V: 0.5A - No. Of Cells: 2-3 Li-Poly - Motor Dimensions: Φ27.5 x 30mm - Shaft Diameter: Φ3.17mm - Weight: 47g - 4 Pcs includ
And these are what I am waiting for to replace with
Motor features:
