I've been mulling over the possibilities for a few days since the Gee Bee crash. I've decided that an 50cc Aeroworks Ultimate is my next plane. www.chiefaircraft.com/radio-control/gas-glow-airplanes/aeroworks/bi-planes/aw-ult50.htmlIt's made in the United States, and quality is beyond what I've experienced from this side of the R/C hobby. Check out the manual: www.chiefaircraft.com/pdf/50ccUltimate.pdfUnbelievable! And it comes on disc too. They should all be like that. At first I thought I might like the red/yellow/black scheme, but the blue/yellow/white is really starting to grow on me. I'm also considering a DLE 55RA for this plane. Because the exhaust is facing the rear, I can get away from the heavier aftermarket Pitts mufflers and use the lighter stock Pitts muffler: www.chiefaircraft.com/radio-control/engines-turbines/dle/dle-55ra.html. Price per horsepower is another consideration. With this engine you get 5.5 Hp for $420 dollars. Plus you get a Pitts muffler and ignition. With the DA 50 it $550 and you get no muffler, 5HP and it's .04 Lbs heavier. Pitts mufflers for the DA 50 start @ $140 dollars. So you're talking close to $300 more for less horse power and more weight. Kind of a no brainer. However, I think if it were about the same price, I'd go with the DA because it's made close to home. So that's what I'm looking at. It wont be until sometime after Christmas that I start buying everything I need. I'm going all new so it's going to be costly, and I'll have to spread it out over a few months. It will probably be February before I start to put it together. Suggestions, comments are welcome

That is a beautiful aircraft. "Ultimate" says it all. Not a thing left for the wanting.
The Manual is as good as you'd get with a full size home built kit. Detailed inventory, instructions and pics.
You won't be disappointed with the more powerful engine choice (Is there ever too much power?) and it is a better buy in the bargain.
I can certainly understand your wanting all new components. With a machine like that it's the only way to go.
