He fellas, I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 50cc Bipe. I've saved enough cash for the full build, but I'm literally stuck in decision about which plane I want. I really thought I was sold on the Ultimate, until I saw this:  Aeroworks Checkmate I mean... what a beauty. So I'm really comparing the two. Ease of travel and set up are major factors. The checkmate is $100 more than I wanted to spend, but if it's every bit as good as the ultimate I'm leaning in that direction. Either way I'll be using a DLE-55RA which comes with it's own Pitts style muffler. So I'll probably start building sometime in March. |

I couldn't comment on which would be the best plane, but that Checkmate has an edge in the looks dept., IMHO. Looks a lot like the "Beast", except even nicer lines. Decisions, decisions...

yeah, I thought so too. And you're right, I didn't pick up on the Beast similarity until you said something. That's probably why I like it. I think I'm sold on it. I've got an email out to Aeroworks asking a few questions. When I get the reply I think I'm going to get, I'll probably pull the trigger.

well, I'm going to wait a bit. My son needs a new computer. He's a programming major at ASU and his computer is ready for the dumper. He didn't ask... I offered since I have the money. So it should be Mid April before I'm ready to buy again. Also, Aeroworks has a 30cc Ultimate coming out in March, and that's the size range I originally wanted for an Ultimate. I'm still sort of torn between the 50cc Checkmate and a 30cc Ultimate though. We'll see....
