This year I'm going to be racing at my local outdoor track. The problem with that is they have no electricity. So I've been weighing my options, most people use gas generators but I don't have one to use and buying one is around $250 starting price. I've also been looking at power inverters, I can buy an 800 watt for $50 and I can get alot of used car batteries for cheap thanks to my brother owning an auto shop. My question is would an 800 watt inverter be sufficient enough to power a Thunder AC6 lipo charger that I got from Hobbypartz? I've tried finding the input wattage of the charger but haven't had any luck, the output wattage is 50 watts. Here's the inverter I'm looking at, reviews seem to be decent- www.amazon.com/Cobra-CPI-880-Inverter-output/dp/B001TE0IMG/ref=cm_rdp_productAlso anyone have an idea how long a car battery would last using a charger, and occasionally a dremel and soldering iron?

I wouldn't use a car battery to weak for any amount of recharging I would use a marine deep cycle 750 mah battery little more money but a whole lot more charging as for the inverter you don't really need it as the charger will accept 11 to 18 volts to operate. man it is a really small charger for about 12 dollars more you could have a 200 Wat charger and a lot faster charge time. Good luck

Thanks AK, I've actually decided to buy a generator, Tractors Supply has a Champion 1400 watt on sale this week for $180. That should be more than enough power. I may buy a better charger if I like racing, I never tried it before though so I don't want to spend to much money on racing, yet. I've already spent $500 and the first race hasn't even started.

Well pretty good buy on the geny I looked at racing once decided was to much dollars for me. To be competitive I needed to be buying 1500 dollar cars and then upgrade them and at the time that was just way to much money to be putting out . Have fun keep us posted

Most car batteries are 1000 cranking amps some smaller ones are at about 700 to 500 more than enough for what you wanted to do. Some of the chargers will work directly off the car battery with no inverter. Ray
