Have been nitro only for years...except for micros. I have finally knuckled under and want to see what the buzz is about on these big high voltage machines. I'm still an Avant guy so I'm starting with an Avant E Aurora 90. JR 8717 cyclics Savox 2272 BLS HV tail BeastX FBL Scott Gray Reactor X2 voltage regulator Futaba 6208 S Bus RX Align 700MX motor YEP 120A HV 4S-14S ESC Revolution 710mm main blades KBDD 114mm tail blades No lipos yet...so many to choose from.lol... No pix with the motor and ESC yet as they are both in the mail somewhere. Oh yeah!!!...Forgot my custom Sick Canopy;)

Thanks Ray.
I have been flying the nitro Avant for a while. It's the same heli.
All identical electronics as well.

It looks big enough that if you put straps on it it could pick up your truck.

I don't doubt that one bit. I've had my best luck with the nano-tech's but I'm only up to 6S. Don't know how the freaky sizes are.

Nanos are high on the list.
I'll be using two 6S packs with a serial connection. As well as a 2S pack for the RX and electronics.
The C rating is the hardest part to choose. It effect the price in a big way.
The thing about the larger lipos is that a lowly 20C pack will do more than you think. Since I'll be using 5000mA packs,20C will sustain 100 amps continuously and handle 150 amp bursts for at least 10 seconds.
I was taught yesterday that a 5000mA pack used to 80% is like having 4000mAh or 240A-min available. If a flight lasts 4 min, then the pack has supplied 60A current on average. This translates to a 12C rating for a 5 Ah pack, on average...
It can be very misleading and confusing.

Yes, and then you have the actual C's as opposed to the advertised C's. Theoretically, my 90mm EDF's should work great on 4000mAh 6S 30C's but in reality they take 45C's to work to system potential. And that's only 70A steady with 1660 Watts on the 45's. The 30C's are only making 60A and 1500 Watts. So, obviously, the 30C's aren't up to the task.

The motor I have now is 6600 Watts. The one I'm upgrading to in a few weeks is 11,000 Watts.
Maybe I should look ahead when I get my first lipos.
That big motor still runs way under 100 amps though.lol...

Maybe you have better luck looking ahead than I do. All I see is a bright light and then, you know...

Got it flying on two 5000mAh 20C Turnigy packs.
Getting 7:30 flights time believe it or not.
