Mr. Grinch!
I awoke at 2:00 this morning to the sound of my car alarm going off. I had planned on leaving for the field early this morning 6 AM, so I packed my tools and my reactor in my car then set my alarm. Unfortunately, there is some coward low-life out there that thinks my property should be his property, and smashed my rear passenger side window, then ran when the alarm sounded. I sleep literally 10ft from my driveway, and was up and out the door within 10 seconds of hearing the alarm and that guy(s) was no where to be found. Nothing was stolen, but the window he shattered was worth more than my plane and tools.
I called the cops and got the lecture about leaving stuff in my car, in Phoenix, on Christmas. Then they said since nothing was stolen there wasn't anything they could do. It just slipped my mind, for some reason, that this was a popular night to steal stuff. A$$holes will be A$$holes.

Well, that's a crappy deal. Your homeowner's ins., less deductible, would have covered your airplane, etc., theft and your comp on your car ins. will cover the glass. But, that's little comfort when something like this happens.

lol!!
I've literally been thinking of traps, like a net that shoots from the bushes or some sort of knockout gas. That would be funny, but the thief will probably win a lawsuit if he gets hurt while stealing my stuff. So I'm buying some motion sensing night vision CCTV cameras, the DVR that goes with them, a shotgun and buckshot (don't want to waste time aiming). My feeling is that if you are doing stuff like that, chances are you're packin' and my life is in danger.

LOL better off with the cameras As the cops look at setting traps for thieves as baiting and frown on the home owner in those circumstances Thats what the state troopers told me when My home was broke in and robbed of all my knife collection and all my hand guns Sorry to here that it Happened to you too

Yeah, and I don't mean to be jumping on law enforcement but, they seem to like to make the victims responsible for the problems as opposed to actually having to find the perps. It's so much easier for them.

Looks like a good system to me maybe a little excessive on the camera amount I only use 4 cams myself

Yeah, and I don't mean to be jumping on law enforcement but, they seem to like to make the victims responsible for the problems as opposed to actually having to find the perps. It's so much easier for them. I felt this way too. My property was in my car behind a locked door and an alarm. I shouldn't have received a lecture, because that's not what I needed, not right then and there anyway. I needed to feel secure in my own home, and I didn't expect them to call out the search helicopter, but maybe a little more than "there's nothing we can do." Even if it was just to say, "look, we're going to keep an eye out over here and drive through occasionally the rest of the night." That would have made me feel better.... I know these guys are stretched thin. It's a thankless job that nobody wants to pay for, but the beat in my area isn't exactly the roughest beat in Phoenix. Looks like a good system to me maybe a little excessive on the camera amount I only use 4 cams myself I agree, but I'm planning on a few cams inside the house too. That system can send images and alerts to your iPhone, so I figured a few cams at entry points might be nice. Would you recommend another system? Because this is actually one of the first ones I looked at. Also did you install yours? I figured with my kids and I could probably to the job with some proper planning.

Yes I did install mine easy to do .
I have neighbors that barrow tool when I am not home which I don't mined them doing that but sometimes they forget where they got the tool lol.
But i know where it is and I ask them when there are going to return it and it usually comes right back in a couple days When they are finished with there project
As far as recommending a unit there are good units out there and bad units some of them are proprietary on all there hookups its always better if you can pick it up in your hand an inspect it.
The unit you picked out looks like a good one. Price is definitely reasonable.
And does it have out door cams very important if your going to put them outside
