Its out now. I cut the mold in half and some of it was still wet inside. So I'm waiting on the RTV to dry before I pour. The mold did work, I guess I didn't use enough catalyst so it didn't dry fast.

Hang in there. Rays vacum mold build is on the way. In the meantime a hair dryer will hasten the cure.
Happy landings

One thing that didnt either of the above videos show is making sure the plastic sits flat against the peg board where it meets the mold. One guy used a plastic window film tool to mash it tight at that location while the vaccum is pulling it down.

The one I am building suspends the plastic above with the element above that as the plastic warms up it droops and then your ready, Also the framework comes down over a seal that ensures a 100% seal you should never have to touch the plastic but those videos give you a good Idea how its done. I don't care for the plastic they are using however it gets brittle. The heating element in the second video is out of a electric dryer not a oven as indicated those things take forever, there are other elements that are quicker and better suited. But it does show you what can be done and the detail is very good it will even pick up surface scratches. Ray

Cant wait to see what you are building Ray. Everything on youtube gave different samples and ideas. None seemed to be ideal.
What kind and what thickness plastic do you recommend.

I have been using Pet-G plastic from USPlasticCorps there delivery time is great there price's not to bad as far as thickness I have used anything from .025 to .090 it depends on the depth of the mold and how much area around it. If the plastic is getting to thin you can use the same thickness just goto a bigger machine or use thicker plastic. The Pet-G comes in black or Clear I use the clear and paint it. The stuff they use in the video is the same stuff that the blazing star canopy is made of, and it turns brittle with time. Ray
