I got some of the parts in. None of the metal upgrade stuff yet (still on the way from China). I did get the new tail boom, struts, and the feathers. Man I hate waiting.......

Waiting for parts is always a bummer. Hope you've got something to fly in the meantime.
Happy landings

Finally got the metal parts last night. Started on the head. I took some pictures and I will try to upload them tonight after TKD class.

Here are some pictures of the start of the upgrade. Here are all the new parts Here is the old head First few parts go together. New Swash Plate Not too bad of a start, but I have a long way to go before I am ready to fly again.

I agree, nice work. Any thoughts on changing the canopy?
Happy landings

Thanks I often do not have anyone willing to video for me. I will try to conscript someone tonight if it isn't raining when I get home. I had to cut out part of the bottom of the canopy when I did the brushless upgrade because of the bigger ESC. Other than that, I hadn't really thought about changing it. I know my kids give me a hard time when I fly without the canopy on. They say it doesn't look like a real helicopter unless it is on.

It just looks too nice for an HBK 2 canopy. And your kids are right; fly it with the canopy on. Happy landings

It finally dawned on me that my heli is easier to fly with the canopy on because it's easier to see and keep orientation.

Well no rain tonight, but way too much wind to chance it, so no video yet. I did fly without the canopy on when I first got the heli I guess out of habit. I used to fly an LMH-100 0.10 nitro fixed pitch heli and I broke the canopy on it and never got a replacement. I still have the LMH, but stopped flying it because keeping that motor running was just too much of a pain.

I am still flying with the stock 1000mah batteries. When I go to the longer 1500 or 1800 battery, I will probably have to put a different canopy on it to have room for the battery.

Nice job on the HBK2, mimir.
When you upgrade the canopy, post up what you find. I've tried 4 different ones for my Neon and don't like the looks of any of 'em. Either too large or too small. Can't find a happy medium.

Finally got my daughter to video for me.
Not too long after this, I decided to flip the idle up. I have done this bunches on the simulator, but not for real. The transition to idle up wasn't that bad, but the transition back was not too cool. The pitch jumped up when I flipped back and the heli shot up fast. I thought I recovered it fairly well and controlled the landing which was hard, but I didn't think too hard. I guess that I was wrong because I stripped the gears on one of the servos. So I need to get a new servo or a rebuild kit.
